| I love that show.. and I'm OCD at times as well... but some of those minigames were hard to figure out just what action they wanted you to make to complete it. |

I didn't think they were hard to figure out, they just got harder with less time.

This is an interesting topic.
My boss is actually OCD--like, there are completely random things that totally freak him out and he'll just shut down. He lives in a small town and won't go into the neighboring larger one no matter how much he might have to because there are things that freak him out so much.
Yuck. _________________

Nearly everyone has some degree of OCD tendencies. It isn't considered a diagnosible condition unless the behaviors and anxiety attached to them have a significant impact on life functioning.
Monk, is interesting to me. The show, and it's main actor have recieved accolades from the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill. His portrayal is interesting to me as well. Sometimes it seems dead on, and others he slips into OCPD (Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder) which is a rather distinct disorder and while similar in symptomology in many ways isn't necessarily even related to OCD. Persons with OCPD are the sort that rise quickly in coorporate and other professional circles, but whose expectations are not only impossible for them to meet, but also those around them. They tend to be giant dickheads. OCPD is considered to be, naturally enough, a personality disorder associated with developmental problems (during personality formation). OCD on the other hand is usually restricted to certain triggers and rituals (which can be quite extensive), and viewed as an anxiety disorder.
Fortunately, with the advent of newer medications, OCD often, but not always, responds well to medication. This is good news as most other therapuetic interventions have limited or no success in treating it. _________________ "Life is tough, but it's tougher when you're stupid" ~ SGT John Stryker from "Sands of Iwo Jima". |
