While Israel is surrounded by organizations want to see the nation annihilated, I think blockades and airstrikes are a bit of an extreme response to two soldiers being captured.

i almost wonder if the bush administration had anything to do with pushing israel into basically starting a war, so he could then justify going on a march through the rest of the middle east?

Here is the Deal in a nut shell, First and most importantly, Cheap oil is just about used up. All we have left around the world is heavy crude. Second, the US economy is built on growth. You can't continue the growth here without the cheap oil. Therefore, the US need to secure the oil for the future to continue as is. You do want to drive a car and have a job, don't you?

Why are terrorists such fucking wankers? I don't want to seem racist, but I've never met a nice terrorist. Seriously, after what happened ilast week in Palestine, what did the Hezbollah fringe think it would achieve with it's kidnappings from inside Israel? "Nah - they won't actually do anything. It'll just make 'em cranky."

Israel have a history of only tolerating so much, and then completely losing their temper entirely over seemingly minor transgressions. Of course, Israel's response is amazingly crude, but people will keep fucking poking them in the ass from right next door.
