I mean, there are a few bands that are so-so in the 80s and 90s... but this decade has been really shitty so far. And what's this whole emo thing about? I don't even understand what it means. Is it a music genre or something? I'm not following it. And indie. What's that? Bands too shitty to get signed to record labels?

Indie is a real blanket term, but generally it means that they don't fit nicely into some genre that the radio stations can play and abuse and turn the public against in a year or less. Or it means that the band doesn't have any real talent, but both options are valid possibilties.

Woah, I always thought it was more specific than that. I mean, I've heard people saying that they listen to, "indie" music. And then they start naming a variety of bands I have never heard of.

Yeeeah, I just get lost anymore. I love QC but I lose track when he starts making indie band jokes.

Not really, it's just short for Independant, as in, they haven't been signed by a major label. Your friends are just trying to feel like they are on the cutting edge of music by listening to "undiscovered" artist, when there's a very real possibility that they've been discovered, found to be boring, and left alone.

Heh. The first 2 seconds of Siriustar (on myspace) reminded me of John Zorn...
UPDATE: I dig Green Cosmos
UPDATE UPDATE: Any band with a song entitled Tumble Cat Poof Poofy Poof deserves to be President (they'll almost certainly do a better job than the bunch of nutjobs messing with the big electric train set at the moment...) _________________ There are 4 boxes to use in the defense of liberty: soap, ballot, jury, ammo. Money is incredible, as is Time, as is Have a Cigar... God, favorite album would be too hard to choose. Damn, my sleepy brain is overloaded. I'll come back and post something intelligible tomorrow when I'm conscious. ^^ _________________ Live to laugh. |

So true, unles of course you're like my buddy Tom who get's into bands usually a 1-2 years before any radio staion is playing them, then, becasue of his elitist attitude, stops listening to them and decries them as old and over played. He doesn't drop the 's' bomb on them though unless they have really sold their artistic souls for $$$ *coughlikeAFIdidcough* _________________
