Oh, right, I skimmed down to my own name and didn't read the other things >_>

I meant a pronoun like "they", just using someone's name seems to get a bit awkward. Unless you're speaking Japanese, in which it's completely normal to say something like "Tanaka-san lives how Tanaka-san wants."

So it would be like:
Ennis prefers neutral pronouns, but they accept that for some people this can be awkward, and so they ask that people use male pronouns if they're going to use a gendered pronoun at all.

But yeah, if you're finding it too difficult to adapt then "he" is fine. I'm not really accustomed to it but I would like to be, if that makes sense.

I'm not sure what you mean. I use pronouns because they're the right part of speech to use when referring to someone in the third person? Or do you mean instead of just saying the person's name? That would get awkward in compound sentences.

Dogen uses pronouns when they're appropriate because Dogen finds using someone's name over and over is tedious and repetitive, but Dogen is open to hearing your interpretation.

Boo! you're not supposed to take my weak attempts at humor seriously

Don't worry, I can adapt to whatever you prefer. Having now had a conversation about you and pronouns/proper nouns should make it easy to remember. Smile

Dogen failed at the humor, and that makes Dogen sad. Dogen hopes you will forgive Dogen!

yeah

okay
□ cat seems like ■'s okay with this one, too

Very clever!

I like 'they' simply because it's a thing people already do and therefore more likely to be adopted. But I also really like 'yo.' If I were allowed to choose an official neutral pronoun, yo would be it.

I did do that, Jinx! Except I went to the other station. It was, like, a four hour tour of the preserve. Complete with baby tiger petting.

We did that one the next day. (The picture I posted was from when we made the reservation at Preservation Station at Barefoot Landing.) I just haven't gotten to posting any of the other pictures. They're on FB, for those I'm FB-friends with.

Talking about you, Jinx. Since you are old and all.

Hey! I resemble that remark.

I have to admit, I have trouble not thinking of most people here as "kids". Maybe I'm the new Major Tom. =\

Ohh, ohh! I'm a HUGE proponent of using they/them/their as a singular, gender neutral pronoun. I mean, we use 'you' as singular and plural, why not they?
