He seems to hate the idea that there are, you know, checks on executive power (in other words, his power) and the idea that there should be anything in the other branches to balance that power. So he's doing quite a bit to bypass those checks and nullify those balances. This makes him, in my opinion, an enemy of freedom.
That's my big beef with the president. _________________ "Whatever afflicts thee, their asses I shall kick"

Gotta love the way that the "Yes" is like some kind of tiny man going "nay". _________________ Colours? What colours? |

i would have preferred that the guy that DID win in 2000 had taken office. the people chose their president, and they were denied having him.(can you tell i'm biased against the electoral college?)
as for 2004, yes, i would have preferred kerry to bush. _________________ On Twitter

Wouldn't you?
I mean, the one we have now is the one trying to rewrite sociology and the US Constitution in the same amendment proposal. |

It's pretty hard to find a lamer president than this one. Not even the Democratic Party managed to field a worse candidate, and that's saying a lot.
His legacy is already fucked, so I don't really worry about it much anymore. He'll cause however much damage he can, dodder around for his last two years, retire to Bumfuck TX, and we all get on with our lives. By now, about anyone who's still intent on thinking that he was a good president has essentially bought into it for life and will likely not be persuaded otherwise, so it limits the usefulness of debate over the issue. |

I doubt you'll find many Bush supporters here. This forum is pretty left leaning. _________________

At this point it doesn't matter if you're a leftist or a centrist or an old-fashioned Conservative, Bush pretty much sucks ass in any direction.
'Now, I know there are some polls out there saying this man has a 32% approval rating. But guys like us, we don't pay attention to the polls. We know that polls are just a collection of statistics that reflect what people are thinking in "reality." And reality has a well-known liberal bias.' |

It's hard to find a lot of bush support anywhere on the internet. On nearly any forum, it'll be confined to a sprinkling of outspoken supporters who have to fight against a sea of discontent against the presidency.
The internet bias skews young and progressive to begin with, so -- most forums aren't going to have a wide pool of the 30-some percent of America's pro-Bush population to stock themselves with. Compounding this is the fact that the contention against Bush often pushes outspoken Bush supporters into specifically political and conservative forums, where they don't feel drowned out in consistent and open anti-Bush sentiment. |

well, and the fact that even the conservatives are starting to wake up and realize how badly he's screwed _them_ over doesn't help.
and yeah, i wish the other guy had taken office. this is the world's only remaining superpower and a massive influence on world economy. i never did understand why it would be a _bad_ thing for a really smart guy to be in charge of it. _________________ aka: neverscared! |
