There's one I visit that has color coded user lists of members at the top of the screen. It only displays the most recently active members but there is a special color code for "BANNED" or "Suspended", and in the corner of each post is a button for flagging a post for mods to look at.

You can put someone on "moderated post" status, meaning that a mod has to approve everything that they submit.

Also, some forums just edit obnoxious posts rather than deleting them or banning the offender. This generally has the effect of causing the offender to give up and start posting like the rest of the forum.

Ideally, we'll have no mods and no need for moderation whatsoever.

Um, there's no need for that. Keep in mind I still think that there will come a rare need for moderation.

Already, I want to contact Tatsuya for the purposes of getting the sinfest picture post thread moved to general.
