Michigan is nice too during the winter. |
Thats a pretty broad generalization. It depends where you go of course. Austin has a huge gay/lesbian community and the other large Texas cities do as well. But if you go to a podunk town you might run into something. Of course that applies to any rural area North or South. (lol at pickups in IL with confederate flags on the tailgates)
But yeah Texas is a great place to live and it really isn't THAT hot for most of the summer. South Padre and Corpus are really nice and going to Mexico for the weekend is a blast. _________________

Oh jeez I saw one of these yesterday in my sub division and wanted to rear end them. Seriously, what the fuck? To any one in Illinois with a confederate flag on your car/flying next to the American flag on your porch, GTFO. _________________ Anything new and exciting? |

Heh, there is a house near where I live in Round Lake Beach that has a confederate flag flying outside the house. It always amuses me to see people with confederate flags in IL or anywhere outside of the South. _________________ Way to kill the conversation, Patty.- Trevor |

I actually have lived in Austin, Texas. I liked Austin. Austin has, I think, the most live music offered than any other city in the U.S. Austin is also a college town, and less likely to be prejudice because of the younger population.
The only downside to Austin is that it's small in area, and instead of building out, they build up. So it's a bit crowded at times because the apartment buildings will be like five stories, and hold a lot of students, but when you're trying to drive with that many students who have cars -- it's a parking lot on the roads. _________________ My blog is back bitches!! Not too familiar with northern Texas, but I've been to Austin. My aunt used to have a store that accepted food stamps. It was nice while I was there. The downtown's rather hilly.

Did something happen? I havn't gone to South Padre in a couple of years. Please don't tell me the tourists ruined it all. There is alot of beach, so it can't all be trashed. No way.

That's true. I'm from the Valley of Texas, though. Raised by nice people, but they're batshit crazy (JW's). I've never seen a gay couple anywhere in the valley.

The dry heat isn't bad at all. So long as you wear a hat, you should be fine. Northern Mexico is cheap, fun, tastey, and did I mention extremely cheap? That's if you go to the right places. I have family there, and from what I've seen, most of it's like walking into a war zone. |

Dry heat? What part of Texas are you from? The Arizona part?
I've lived in San Antonio for many, many years. There is no such thing as dry heat here or in Austin or Houston or anywhere on the coast. |

Yeah, when I lived in Texas, I did not experience any of this "dry" heat you mention. And I lived in a suburb of Ft. Worth. _________________ A person's character is their destiny. |

Overall, I find people are nicer in the south. That is one of the reasons I like Texas. You are going to find prejudiced people everywhere, unfortunately. The overall feeling in Texas is friendly. Yes, the politics are fucked up but we're working on it.
I have no problem with Humidity. I am so looking forward to Houston. I leave Friday morning. Whoo! _________________ Before God created Las he pondered on all the aspects a woman might have, he considered which ones would look good super-inflated and which ones to leave alone.

"Friendship" is actually the state motto.
It comes from the fact that:
| Wikipedia wrote: | | The state name derives from a word in the Caddoan language of the Hasinai: táyshaʔ, tecas, or tejas (the Spanish spelling); meaning "those who are friends," "friends," or "allies". |
And apparently, besides being "The Lone Star State", it's also "The Friendship State". |

I was born in Harlingen, and grew up in San Benito, Texas. Also lived in Brownsville for about a year. From what I remember, it was hot, but it was pretty dry, so it wasn't bad so long as you drank water, and wore a hat.
Lived in Houston for five years, and that part of Texas is really humid. Don't mind it, though. Worried about gangs, and crime more than anything else. |

Lately it's been raining pretty hard so the temperature's laid low. It's pretty nice, especially when my dad says it was 107 in Duncan, OK. |

Wow, I didn't think anyone on this forum would ever mention "Harlingen." I have family all through the valley. My grandparents currently live in Harlingen and I visit them every time I go back state side. |
