Kibate. Heart is a close second (too easy to do but nice), MsFris' third (just a little too dark). DiCola's in nice but I don't like the blurred effect on Monique's face.

actually it took me 15 mins + ^^ since i had to clean up the brush strokes and stuff.

(...not going to mention avatar or siggy *puts fork in eye*)
I bet most other people's took way over 15 mins!!! I wouldn't have the patience (or the talent) to do anything like DiCola, Kibate, MsFrisby or Twister 87 (I might come close to Keign with lots of practice).

actually, some ideas come cheap these days. hardly count for anything. so, yeah. I also dislike heart's contribution because the effect is SO WAY OBVIOUS AND TOOK ABSOLUTELY NO THOUGHT OR SKILL OR TALENT OF ANY SORT WHATSOEVER.

What a return for the colouring contest. Solid entries across the line. I was really torn between Kibate's and Dicola's colourings. It was like flipping a coin hoping it would be tails all the while wanting heads to come up and vice versa.

I really liked Kibate's entry. Bright colours and the pastel-like blending of the colours were instinctively appealing to me. Finally I decided that the coloured text was somehow rubbing me the wrong way and went for Dicola. Sorry Kibate, it could've been you almost just as well. I'll promise to bias myself a little against everybody else the next time just to make it up to you.

My vote goes for Dicola.

In a graphic novel, I'd prefer black text, but as a poster or something, I like the colored text. The way it's colored strikes me as something that would be sold on Sinfest merchandise, and so I think it looks fine.

I myself liked those Kibate's colored letters, they add a nice sense of comicness into text, and that's quite justified in a comic strip. Smile

Makes me wish I would have realized to use those a long time ago Very Happy

So, my vote goes for Kibate o/

(By the way, are partial votes allowed? Can we divide our single vote between many contestants?)

Nothing and something. If Dicola hadn't had his entry for this month I would've voted for you and never looked back. It was only after I started to examine the two strips with the meticulousness of a Jewish diamond purveyor, the coloured text started to feel somehow wrongish. Maybe it was the poster-likeness and not the strip-likeness of it. Maybe it was just seeing coloured text for the first time. Maybe I wanted subconsciously Dicola to win after all. Maybe I'm just stretching here. Maaaybe.

In sum: Don't really know. It's not really as if art/aesthetically pleasing images can always be provided with tonnes of rationale.

But don't feel bad. With my small bias against all but you, you already have lead in the next competition Smile

.jpg's are usually my last choice for most graphic rendering (it's no accident that T uses .gif's), even as a final compression for webization (it's just too prone to artifacts, imho/fwiw)

Nice job, all -
1) `Cola's seemed the most cohesive as a work (light values, texture, color and subject all melded nicely - hard to get a balance between punch & subtlety)
2) H_e_a_r_t's somehow both works and doesn't - the rough paper texture and wash actually make the final panel's mood fairly personal (good for you, girl Smile )
3) Keign - the simplicity works
4) Kibate - nice palette but the colored text ..
5) MsFrisby - colors yes, losing black text in dark background .. no - fine tune the values and it's back in the running
6) Twister87 gets my vote for best simple coloring + the smallest filesize
pesky %# .jpg artifacts, use .png next time?
