It would appear so. What's next I wonder? Caligraphy? A planet needs people? NINJA THEATRE?

Who can tell.

What's he nostalgic about, then? I don't see nostalgia here. Reflective, maybe, but unless he was in the military/a peace demonstration, I don't see where the nostalgia comes from.

Nice touch, the peace dove's logo is reminiscent of the UN logo :-)

how does putting the helmet on make the love dove "in drag"? that's the only part that I don't understand.

maybe love dove is a girl. or maybe a military helmut counts as "drag" because love dove is gay.

Tat stretched the definition of drag a little.

Love dove and warhawk are opposites, like men and women. So when Love dove wears an article of clothing that is characteristic of war, or warhawk, he's in "drag". The way a guy wearing a dress or womens shoes would be in drag...

The joke here is mostly in what he says, "I love long hard missles", which is hilarious because it makes warhawk out to be gay. Apparently he's fighting a war against terror by gays, but if you just read panel two it might seem as if he's against terrorized gays. I don't know, it's funnier if your english is weak.

Because it has been some time since the last "WarHawk and Love Dove" comic. Just like yesterdays strip.

What Tetsujin said. Admittedly I had to read this a couple of times at first, but Love Dove is actually mocking the Warbird's love of large phallic symbols, and yes, men wearing women's clothing is 'drag', so a man wearing a military helmet = drag, the implication being that the military are either effeminate or gay.

Great comic for analyzing, not entertainment. This one was not for me, sadly. Because I really have enjoyed both these characters in the past.

i think it's a step simpler than that.

"drag" as in gay<>military. the dove, acting homosexual, dons the military helmet and thus engages in transvestitism -- 'dressing as the other'.

a gay person in military garb is "in drag"...and then does a poledance on the nearest missile, just to make all the military butches uncomfortable...

...or interested, i guess.
