Apparently some people in "not America" are pessimistic about the mandatory Kinect and it's voice controls. Can't imagine why.

...

Seriously though, this has given me exactly no reason to be interested. Don't like sports games, don't play COD, don't have cable TV, not interested in Kinect, do like picking up cheap, used games... the list goes on.

I do find it amusing that after a decade of "PC GAMING IS DEAD!!!!ONE11!" it's consoles that appear to be edging towards oblivion.

Unrelated: Playing back through Dawn of War 2. Apparently Reckoning made me forget just how fucking terrible the core game was.

On an e-sports related note: it's amazing how far the scene has come in the past few years, and particularly amazing how far Riot has come in the past nine months. After the ludicrous tech failure at the Season 2 championships, seeing the All-Stars tournament this weekend is an amazing contrast in both how smooth it's gone, and the sheer production values involved.

Add in a live crowd of 8000 in Shanghai, streams in eight languages, and more than 150,000 people tuning in to watch the English stream (despite starting at an ungodly hour, because Shanghai).

All of a sudden League of Legends is looking more popular than a lot of "proper" sports.

I just can't get myself to like e-sports. My SO loves it but I dunno. Maybe I'd rather play the game myself than watch others play? The fact that I'm not too much into PVP helps as well.

The only "e-sport" I watch is the annual EVE alliance tournament. Nothing else has really captured my interest.

I'm become a bit jaded in the MMO world (a bit?). I find myself wanting to type posts like: What's the point in hating other MMOs just to make yours look good and You're going to be dissapointed because you're hoping to find Vanilla WoW again - and then eventually don't because what's the point? Fans always need something to rage against it seems.

Vanilla wow is rose colored glasses.

It was good, it was fun, but it was a pain in the ass as well. It's something I am glad I experienced, but would probably never do again.

Absolutely. It's kind of sad that people can't stop living in nostalgia.

OH DEAR GOD.

So I've been following Starbound ( http://playstarbound.com/ ) for a while, eagerly anticipating its beta release (Starbound is... it looks like it will sort of be "Terraria. In Space. But better. And with Plot!")

Plot to the point where they have opening narration. And voice acting for the opening narration for each race.

[i]Cunningham, just sent them voice sampels.[/ i] You may know him better as
THIS GUY: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6RTkUgov60g

And I think they're only taking voice actors on a volunteer basis, soooooo the voice actor from Bastion just volunteered to do voice acting for them.

Yes please!

The Last Of Us strips away the geek-centric fan service so commonplace in contemporary games. For every highbrow idea explored, developers seem compelled to throw in a lowbrow one to counterbalance it. The Last Of Us resists such compromises, and does so without disappearing up its own backside. Naughty Dog has delivered the most riveting, emotionally resonant story-driven epic of this console generation.

8 days. This is the first game in a long time that I've been not just interested in playing, but eager to play. The reviews are already in and reviewers have nerdgasmed all over themselves. So many perfect scores.

It's sooooo pretty.

Hyyyyyyype.
