My sister has XL and she doesn't like it too much. It was a gift so she uses it often, but she told me she prefers my regular one more. Easier to hold and looks nicer too.

Huzzah! Basically we both have to be online at the same time. One of us can visit the other's town. I've got cherries and I'll have coconuts, durians, and apples soon. It's kinda fun, I had some random internet people over last night and they mostly did their own thing while I fished.

I prefer the regular one, but even that one has been messing up my wrists so much I got this thing. It really really helps. The XL looks fantastic, but it's so heavy I can't play it for very long at all before my wrists ache.

I notice there are some special edition ones with certain games that are pre-downloaded onto the 3DS too. Even a polka dot XL 3DS Animal Crossing one lol. I'm *almost* tempted to do the Mario Kart one. Since I'm completely behind on the handheld scene, is the 3DS backwards compatible?

3DS is backwards compatible with DS games. It is not backwards compatible with Gameboy Advance games (like the original DS was)

Nice and as I figured. I sold my GBA and games anyways. Still have some original GB games along with the original GB. I doubt I'll be able to part with that beast ever. I think I'll keep one DS for my daughter to putz around with, and then I won't care if she drops it/breaks it since she's only 3.

I'd like to get a 3ds, but I have this unfortunate habit with handhelds where I buy them for one game and then never pick it up again.

So in the interest of spending wisely I must pass.

I also have trouble getting into handheld games as much as I do console games.

Also, I've been getting the WoW itch lately.

Sucks, I don't have time to enjoy a subscription, so I can't justify it.

My wife got Rhythm Thief for her B-Day and is loving it.

Also, DS lites were the last system gameboy games could be played on.

How? They only accepted DS and GBA carts.

Funny thing, I have an old Gameboy Color cart (Tilt n' Tumble Kirby, to be exact) that has a tilt switch in it. You play by tilting the Gameboy around. Now... that's all said and good in a Gameboy Color, where the cartridge loads from the top.

I own an Advance SP, where the cartridge loads from the bottom.

Result: Game is fucking impossible because all the controls are reversed.

Just the headline alone: New Xbox 'a sin against all service members.' So apparently thr military isn't thrilled by Microsoft's direction, either...

direction?

Microsoft's pretty much always been terrible

they got handed an unintentionally sweet deal by IBM and subsequently got to be the big kid on the block

they used to be be big and scary

but they're not so scary anymore. The only even slightly worrisome about them is that they've still got their malware installed on most desktop computers.

the only direction they're going is towards obsolescence

If only companies using them would now go for something else.
