Wii U is now officially a flop, pretty much admitted by nintendo.

I guess they're running a 35 billion dollar loss this year.

*squints* How are you guys playing a game that hasn't been released yet? Pre-release kickstarter thing?

All backers got a key for act 1. I cheated and watched on youtube.

Oh good lord I want that game LIKE BURNING now.

Also I opted for "I'm not really the key demographic for most games but I play a lot of them anyway and I'd really like to offer input." route for the Dragon Age thing and I'm like 99% sure I won't get in but at least I was honest I guess.

I may have also implied I side-eye the hell out of them -because I love them so much- which. Uh. Bit of a shot to the foot, that one.

*sigh* I'll just buy the fucking game when it's released anyway.

Yep.
If they even stick around for another console attempt, perhaps they could try to keep pace, or at least jogging a little closer behind, the other guys? And perhaps maybe just possibly introduce some new IP instead of relying entirely on Mario/Zelda/Pokeman rehashes?
I don't even think the tablet controller and potential asymmetrical play is a bad idea, but it's hobbled by all the Nintendo-ness of the rest of the ecosystem. The console hardware is weak and they don't offer enough attractive 3rd-party titles or introduce fresh 1st party stuff.
Where's the serious RPGs? Where's even the JRPG? FPS may be seen as a fratboy genre but it seriously moves consoles, which then gets you a foothold into the house so that other people might consider buying games for it.

Honestly, you're better off waiting for the full game. It's charming, it's intriguing, it's surprisingly dark, and it's incredibly frustrating to hit that end of act one nonsense right as the story hits its stride.

I mean, a Beetlejuice quote worked last time so I should know by now I don't need to fret but... URGH GIVE IT TO ME BECAUSE I WANT IT. Also the quote won't work this time because they didn't ask for my qualifications. Boo.

I just said something among the lines of: I'm a critical reviewer and want to see this game succeed. :3

I do think you are their core demographic though. Very Happy People who love good RPGs and characters.

Games I've played through so far this year:

* Super Lesbian Horse RPG
that's it so far, and it was great

To Play List:

* Wasteland (maybe around the time Wasteland 2 is released because toaster repair) even though I doubt that it has aged well
* replay Fallout 2 with the Littlepip mod and the Restoration Project installed
* Still looking through the 1999 games everyone recommended for things to actually play, aaaaaaa (part of my ongoing mission to play at least one game from each year > 15 years ago)

also Horse Game (which I have made art of) assuming they get a real playable level released sometime

So it's like Sony wins by default?

If Nntendo was smart, they should be hopping into bed with Nexon to bring their MMO's to the console market.

on that note, I've almost given in and started playing Elsword

Why are South Korean/Japanese MMOs so scared of PoC?

It's too bad about the wii U; I personally quite enjoy the system, and I think there is massive potential, which has been sadly underused. The amount of obnoxious "zomg save nintendos put mario on iphones!!!" stories out there is astounding though. I can't help but think that would be the death knell of the company.

The absolute best part?

Subscribers play as aristocracy, free to play players are restricted to servants.
