Riot is getting pretty good at this whole cinematic thing, even if I think Leona didn't get enough screen time.

Debating picking WoW up again for a little while.

Are there any cool incentives to start up again? I don't even know how to look for that kind of thing.

Hard to say, at the moment we're deep into the biggest content drought the game has ever seen, but I don't know how much you have done or want to do. They keep doing periodic buffs to valor point gain and legendary quest progress, but I don't know if you got a character high enough to benefit from it. On the flip side, some stuff that's old hat to us fogeys (Isle of Thunder, Siege of Orgrimmar, and the like) might still be new to you.

So...

Maybe?

Eeeh yeah, there is a LOT of content I haven't seen, to be honest. My memory is pretty shitty so I prolly won't remember it until I'm halfway though. I kinda wanted to start up a gnome for funsies though.

I dunno, bleh. What I really want to do is derp around with Sims 4's character creator (or just generally an advanced character creator) but apparently that isn't gunna be released until September.

*grumble*

EA's offering the complete Sims 2 (including ALL expansions) for free until July 31st. You need an Origin account, but not necessarily the Origin client.
Hope you can handle a 12GB download!

While I'm still full of (largely irrational) hate for Origin, it's worth pointing out that they also started doing a rather neat "on the house" program a while ago.

Periodically they pick a game, and anyone can get it for free. You keep it forever, so long as you get it before they pick the next one. They don't update it often, and it's always older games, but hey, free stuff.

God(ess)/Au'Tuiin/All-powerful-athiesmo help me, Sid Meier's Beyond Earth (Basically: Alpha centauri 2) comes out

A) When I'll be writing my PhD thesis (likely)
B) TWO DAYS before my wedding anniversary.

tell your wife you are going with modern day anniversaries. so instead of the traditional presents of paper, wood and (if you hang in that long) jewels, you are going with apps, smartphones and wildly expensive AV centers (if you hang in that long). and it just so happens that this anniversary (whatever it is) is computer games.

and i'm sure your adviser will have no problem with your thesis taking an extra week or three due to ....ummmm.....writer's block. yeah, that will work.

that would be great if I had any reason to believe that I'd be playing any video games at all at any time in the near future

Writing or defending? Because in my experience these things take a little bit of time to get right.
