Picked up Crysis 2 (because it was 75% off). Surprisingly good sci-fi. There are some issues with the pacing and the difficulty curve, but all in all it's a damn good game. _________________ The older I get, the more certain I become of one thing. I've been playing Saints Row the Third now, having gotten it in the bundle. Playing it pretty much constantly, because holy fuck it's been a long time since I've had this much fun in a video game. It's just like, at every turn the game goes, "you think that'd be funny/awesome? Yeah, we think so, too, so sure, go ahead and do it." _________________ “Yields falsehood when preceded by its quotation”

You might want to read the URL there, Crysis 3 isn't out until February. _________________ The older I get, the more certain I become of one thing. True and abiding cynicism is simply a form of cowardice. |

Now for an actual Humble Indie Bundle, HIB 7 specifically.
Deals as of now:
Shank 2
Closure
The Binding of Isaac + Wrath of the Lamb DLC
Snapshot
Indie Game: The Movie
And sountracks for all of them except BoI.
Pay more than average an you get:
Dungeon Defenders + DLC
Legend of Grimrock
Plus their soundtracks.
Once more they're all cross-platform and DRM free, with optional Steam keys (if you pay more than a buck for the whole bundle). The Electronic Frontier Foundation is back in the charity options with Child's Play. |

| Steam For Linux has gone from private to public beta, and there are now 39 games that have Linux versions through Steam. The officially supported distro is Ubuntu 12.04, but you can run it on pretty much anything (and if you can't, that's what the bug tracker is for) |

I feel dirty linking to Reddit, but...
Here's a link to reddit. It gives a good timeline and some lovely links, but still... _________________ “Yields falsehood when preceded by its quotation”

So far the Good Old Games (GOG) holiday sale has been pretty good; on a whim I bought the Jumpin Indie Action Bundle. Turns out it is some pretty awesome times oldskool platformers. I particularly enjoy Giana Sisters and Mutant Mudds.
2012 may well be the year of indie games, there's been some pretty spectacular releases. _________________ Who needs a signature? |

So, picked up Shogun 2: Total War on sale.
On the one hand, it's a Total War game, which makes it moderately awesome and vaguely educational by default.
On the other hand, the campaign can be obscenely frustrating. The economic system is opaque, the AI agents cheat, and the turn after you become Shogun every single faction will declare war on you. Allies you've had since turn two? At war. Vassals you created? At war. Factions you've never encountered down in fucking Kyushu? At war.
It's just irritating. _________________ The older I get, the more certain I become of one thing. True and abiding cynicism is simply a form of cowardice. |

It's sad, for every bit of Total War goodness, there's something that's just... stupid. _________________ The older I get, the more certain I become of one thing. True and abiding cynicism is simply a form of cowardice. |
