I'll have to do some randoms first, lest I embarrass myself in front of people I know.

i am deeply concerned about that game

everyone is all "oh my god it's so boring" and yet everyone keeps on playing it

it's like crack that doesn't get you high but gets you addicted anyway

I take it in small doses so I don't get bored.

It really is crack.

I have found recently that working on improving my credit/finances feels exactly the same as playing games like that (In my case, I play Dragonvale, Flight Rising, Minecraft and played Hay Day for a couple days.) I can't figure out if I like doing it because it's a substitute for fixing my actual problems, or if I just like fixing things and it is easy to get new things I can actually fix when playing those kinds of games.

Oh, I also played Neopets around when it was new. Was completely addicted to it in high school. Tried it again years later, and had the exact same level of addiction. Tried playing Petville as well, and the same thing happened. It's when there's a chance to constantly earn more money or points by clicky clicking things that I get into trouble - so now I only play the ones that have a limited amount of things you can set up, and a lot of waiting time inbetween. Dragonvale I can play by only visiting about three minutes in a day, unless I'm way into it.

Gearbox is not only remaking high definition versions of Homeworld and Homeworld 2, they're going to re-release the originals for digital distribution.

Gearbox is now officially forgiven for Duke Nukem Forever.

Brave New World expension for Civ V came out. I haven't palyed Civ V so I thought:'Hey, why not...'

So I got it

The first night I played until 2 am.
The next day I played until midnight.
I woke up at 6 am the next day (I work from 8, my plan was not to be late) got ready, and decided to play couple of turns before I go to work. Next thing I know I get a text from a colleague asking me if I am ok I look at the time it's 9 AM!!! I rush to work! I always take my laptop to work (yes you see where this is going)...I discretely (suuuuure no one noticed) played it at work!

At this point I sense that playing Civ again my not be wisest idea I had. I spent my teens* playing Civ II (I played colonization during 'breaks') it devoured my days. I am an adult now though, I can control my urges.

I cam home last night at around 7 pm...went bed at 2:30 am what did I do in betweeen....yup .....played Civ.

Fuck it. I love that game. I feel like I could dedicate a lifetime to playing Civ game, and I probably could. Sadly I have only this one. So, Civ it was a great ride but it's time for me to see ...people.

*who am I kiddin it's not only teens I spend a large chunk of my 20s playing Civ III and Alpha Centauri.

Short version of this post:
Sid Meier ruined my life!

Ah, one more turn syndrome. Had a similar experience in the last week with Brave New World. If it helps, set a timer. I actually used to do that playing civ (set it up for once an hour) and it's harder to get lost in the game that way, since it gives a brief yoink back to reality while also giving a time update

Just finished Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

Such a strange game. Moments of absolute brilliance interspersed with unparalleled whatthefuckery. Amazing art design, horrible animations. Satisfying gun play and stealth, horribly limiting inventory and the stupidest boss fights I've encountered in years. Decent plot with the potential to be thought provoking, incredibly unsatisfying and pointless ending(s).
