A lot of the time I'll try and make a snarky comment or correct someone about something but I can't find a way to phrase it that doesn't make me look like an asshole. But most of them are too embarassing, so I won't post them.
I guess this could be a post kind of like that, because it doesn't really contribute anything and it's not really funny at all. But it does, I guess, because of the thread topic. |

Mechanically it's not a pretty system, since you have to carry the force over a large distance and you need to make the force required as low as possible. On top of that it induces an extra risk because you simply have more things to do instead of watching traffic and there's a big metal stick coming up through the floor which isn't very safe in crashes (measures are taken against this but it's pretty costly). Even formula-1 drivers have semi-automatic, sort of |

...Can't help but disagree. I find I'm more likely to zone out driving our big automatic Impala then the small standard Corola. See, that argument should make sense, except that once you learn to drive stick and become good at it, it becomes second nature, and you no longer need to think about it. End result is that I tend to be more aware and more focoused driving the Corola, because I have to focous to shift, but it doesn't actually distract me. |
Even though shroomie contradicts himself I gotta agree, by feeling you are in more control you effectively are. Also, it's just hella more fun to drive.
On point, the longer I've been up and at the comp and the less sober I am, the worse my posts get in many respects. While I am an asshole sometimes, it's usually because I've rushed and reponded to a post w/o reading someone else's response that has already said what I've planned on saying.
I pride myself in the fact that I don't lie here, which probably accounts for some of the worst things I've said but I also think it's helped me to lie less in real life, something I used to be all-world at. Maybe I'll learn to just keep my mouth shut, but I don't see that happening any year soon; I mean for good or bad, opening one's digital mouth is the point of a forum. I guess staying away from the 'shotgun strategy' of throwing a lot of shit out there and hoping something will hit the target isn't a bad idea either. Did I mention I babble?
Lastly, I'm posting in this High Quality Thread™ because Dro made it and that should be reason enough for anyone. _________________

Although, I must admit, if it seems I contradict myself, it's probably because I have a hard time expressing myself through text. I'm a born public speaker, not a speech writer. _________________ Forcibly adopted by Varst...

I'm kinda surprised restraint factors in on this forum. Most of the posts I don't finish are political and when I'm just about through I realize that my point wasn't nearly as compelling in writing as in my head or that I was disagreeing just for the sake of an argument. _________________ "And then the sea was closed again, above us." |
