For whatever it's worth, I think you avoided contradicting yourself with the addition of "it keeps me focused, but doesn't really distract me" at the end.
I'll often start writing something to the effect of "don't feed the troll," then realize that no one ever heeds me and I just end up contributing to the clutter. |
