In early 2006, just over 10 years ago, first Sam and then Smeat nominated European Oils, by destroyer.

I reviewed it quite positively, based on either a download or a youtube video.
This set in motion a chain of events, leading me to buy the album and, over the years, recommend it to various friends and members of my family.
(For whatever reason, it also caused me to mistakenly believe he was Australian for the next decade, to the point where I'd "explain" to people how this kind of shit was only possible in an environment like the aussie art scene.)
All of this culminated this saturday in my brother, a high school friend and me cheering ecstatically at a Destroyer gig we never thought we'd get a chance to see.

Thanks Sam, thanks Smeat.

If you listen to The Frogs, you'll understand why the singer from Destroyer sounds Australian. Because he sounds like the singer from The Frogs, who is an Australian.

Exhibit one: Sailors Board Me Now by The Frogs.

And to tie into 2016's Sinfest Nostalgathon, try listening to The Frogs and not imagining Dennis being somehow behind the whole thing. Unpossible. Ridiculation would be too strong a word for it.
