Ahem. The lasers were added later. _________________ Before God created Las he pondered on all the aspects a woman might have, he considered which ones would look good super-inflated and which ones to leave alone.

You're pretty desensitized there, kid. |

I remember when the internet was a warm, fuzzy place, where persons of divergent opinion and cultural touchstones came together in intelligent , well-thought-out discourse, for the betterment of all mankind.
Then I woke up. |

I don't see how him being told to cheer up by Buddha, who for Jesus wouldn't be a dream like character since they hang out all the time, is surreal.
Where does it spurt from his subconscious?
Where is the unknown desire or urge?
How could Freud psychoanalyze this?
Now the first comic in this series totally yeah surreal, at least the first two panels. _________________ B.D. |

Anyway, let's be serious now.
Tatsuya seems to be portraying Buddha as the quintessential Nietzschean Übermensch of the webcomic. But the nature of this particular strip is not quite surreal. It is instead a criticism of the Hegelian dialectical conflict between the postmodern hyperreality of our present state, referenced by the colloquial "emo" displayed on a signpost, and the Judeo-Christian morality of the past that synthesized it.
This is just stating the obvious, of course. |
