this would explain why strips seem to get worse with time. actually, they are getting better as the artist improves, but we are seeing them in the opposite order, so to us, they are getting worse. _________________ aka: neverscared!

Breathed's recent artistic style is very sketchy, very exaggerated. While it may appeal to some, it doesn't appeal to me. I liked his artwork better in the "middle years" of Bloom County.
Also, his current Sunday-only strip "Opus" fails to amuse most of the time. |

yeah, it's not exactly humorous. what bothers me the most is that he really does repeat himself a lot. it's a shame too. bloom county was such a good strip. he really should have just stopped, like he said he was going to. _________________ http://moonlitstarcars.com |

he's a comic artist that never had the addled-brain-inspired genious of gary larsen, but most likely took at least as many drugs and also didn't quit when he started sucking. |

he's got some similarities to doonesbury - lots of political commentary delivered by a cast of colorful characters - but i think trudeau has managed to stay fresher. i guess maybe because, while both have maintained the same core cast, trudeau's have changed over time (while being in the same strip), while breathed keeps putting the same characters in "different" strips, and somehow they never change (well, i guess steve dallas is now older, and opus' beak is much larger than when he originally appeared - but characterwise, still the same). _________________ aka: neverscared!

Breathed also has noted that he was stealing Doonesbury's style. |
