Good. Go to the library to read books not post it up on myspace. I can't even get on the computers to look stuff up here because all the kids are on myspace or forumwhoring. I am totally fine with this idea. _________________

the gop-congress has apparently interpreted the old adage to mean "safety in number-of-restrictions"
it's all pretty consistant

This bill would also block distance learning programs. Which are far more common than you think. This would mean that when I was working on my MLS, that if I went to the public library to do some of my homework, I would be blocked from accessing the course area where I would do my required posting. There were times that I was without home internet when going to school, and the public library was my only access. I couldn't drive 45 minutes one way to use the campus computers. This would also block WIKIPEDIA. It would block EMAIL. Such as google, yahoo, msn, etc. What about updating your lj? Poor Joey. No more updating your LJ, or adding your newest works to DevianArt. Sorry. That's social networking.
Write your representative and let them know how disappointed you are in them if they voted for this bill. Write your senator and emphasize how crippling this would be for a large number of people who do no wrong and use these kinds of websites. Doing this to MAYBE prevent someone from using the library from chatting up a 13 year old is severe overkill. _________________ A person's character is their destiny. |

Hey cletus, what about those who aren't wealthy enough to have their own personal computer? _________________ -HamletSr |

Letting your kids access whatever they want on the internet is obviously a problem with the internet.
It isn't a parenting problem, NO... Of course not... _________________ Must... stop...procrastinating ARGH!! C'est la vie *sigh*

You can find worse smut in books.
Ever read the Bible? Chock full of murder, incest, debauchery, fornication, gruesome demising, and every kind of sin imaginable. |

Yeah, and what about all the people who cant play video games cause they cant buy the video game system. Really, man, thats stupid. If people who cant afford their own computer want to come to the library to do research, great! Nobodys trying to stop em. If they want to browse the internet to read comics and watch flash cartoons, they need to buy their own. They dont get any entitlement just because they're poor. |

haha! But, by that standard, nera, we would no longer keep fiction collections or anything but non-fiction videos here at the library. The library is ESTABLISHED as a place, not only for factual information, but also for entertainment. For reading, or watching, for fun. Just because. _________________ A person's character is their destiny. |

Couldn't we put the House on chain gangs or license plate detail? Not so much as punishment (unfortunately stupidity is not a crime), but just to keep themselves busy. When left to their own devices they obviously feel the need to waste millions of dollars on useless litigation and just make themselves look ridiculious.
At any rate, after hearing some of the debate regarding Net Neutrality I think we can agree these people are woefully unqualified to be passing any laws regarding the internet. _________________ "And then the sea was closed again, above us." |

no no, fris, he is completely correct. also, we should abolish university scholarships if we catch students who use federal aid surfing for entertainment on university connections. the rich kids can do what they want, obviously, but i wont stand for it on the public dime! _________________ -HamletSr |
