I'm pre-writing that I'm going to a new brewery for the first time tonight for a friend's birthday. I'm not sure if I'm more excited to celebrate the friend or to try new beers. Probably 50/50.

Sounds like fire cider, or the more common but less cool name of angry balls.

Well okay now I own a big bottle of Fireball Whiskey and it's at least 90% Dogen's fault.

It's -really fucking good- though, oh my god.

This can only end badly.

i am attempting to make wildling cider, although what i have is pasturized (but unfiltered!) apple juice, and what is on top may be mold rather than foam. anyway, it's been sitting for a week, i guess i need to give it another week and then we will see. i've really been getting into ciders.

so it sounds like i need to find some of that fireball whiskey, so i will have something tasty either way.

Oooh that looks cool mouse, I hope it works out for you.

My only complaint about fireball whiskey is that it's not burny enough. Apparently cinnamon spice is the only spice I have a reasonable tolerance for.

Rum, Umpqua frozen fat-free greek honey yogurt, Torani coconut syrup, and pineapple juice. Mix in quantities you happen to have to taste, and enjoy.

This all started because we were out of milk and I wanted dairy. But this frozen greek yogurt stuff tastes like a mango sherbert, which is not something I really enjoy by itself most of the time. Tastes pretty good in this, though.

Fireball is delicious in small quantities.

I find, however, that drinking a lot of it in one sitting makes me feel really, really gross.

As an aside, Stolichnaya is now my go-to brand of Vodka and my general go-to liquor now. Got a good balance of quality and cost, especially for an import. Much better than Smirnoff and domestic brands.

hot water

I heated up some water for tea but then I didn't bother with the 'tea' part

um... warm? and watery?

I knew what I was getting into. It was just tap water, but the tap water here is more palateable than many places.
I would rate it higher than soda (oversugared acidic colas etc, cold or warm**) but lower than peppermint
so
maybe about the same on the scale of goodness as a fairly mediocre black tea

most days I would prefer room-temperature water

** writing this has forced me to imagine warm soda, which is even more horrible than cold soda

Sweet dear shit I knew I was a heavyweight but I didn't think I'd finish an entire bottle of vodka in a night.

Shocked

How the fuck am I not dead right now?

The only answer to that question is always, "you didn't have enough of it in your system at any one time to suppress your brain stem function and cause you to stop breathing."

Which is what alcohol poisoning is - confusion; slow, irregular breathing; possible seizures; cyanosis (blue tinge of the fingers and mouth); hypothermia; and vomiting. Brain stem shutting down.

I don't know how big a bottle we're talking, but if it was a fifth then you're just an idiot.
