I slept 12-16 hours a day, played Xenogears the rest of the time. I can't express enough my utter contempt for Xenosaga. At least they stopped trying to bullshit us and just made it a fuckin' movie.

U talking about how they make RPG's with 2-3 hour cut scenes and actual game play that lasts 30mins to an hour in between?

yea i HATED FFX, and i dont know why people claim the gameplay to be AMAZING, i played through FFXII and wasnt blown away by the character development or narrative.

No new Rpg's have done anything for me, aside from the SMT's
I miss the hayday of FF7, FF6, and FF9 and the other PS Rpgs

True, but FF8 was left out of the original quote. I was hoping not to bring it up.

I rather enjoy all the cut scenes as long as they stay interesting. Level whoring needs to be broken up a bit by pretty cinamatics I say.

I'll never understand why people don't like FF9 - it was, hands down, the best storytelling in the series. Worlds--nay, universes--better than the much-lauded FF7.

Nothing is better than FF7, I can't believe you would say that! The style, the atmosphere, the music, the graphics, the characters, the story... all were so amazingly well constructed. It was the only Final Fantasy I ever felt could have been made into a movie, and not just a regular movie, but some crazy Bladerunner style movie.... shit it was good.

I can never tell if I like FF9 or FF8 better, the story is waaaay better in FF9 and the characters are less annoying... but FF8 has some cool gameplay stuff.

The FF8 system was bashed a lot. I liked the idea of the spell drawing but I whored it out and I can see why it would be silly. The story was cool in theory but its execution was terrible.

I didn't play through FF9. I gave it to a boyfriend at the time. He finished it but I don't think I ever got it back. If I remember correctly, to get the ultimate weapon you had to do some ridiculous time challenge. The atmosphere didn't grab me like FF7 did either. It was too light hearted to be truly compelling. I loved the graphics though and the game (what I played of it) was fun.

I liked FFX but probably because the graphics were so damn cool. And Auron. He made everything awesome.

Trying not to spoil anything, but FF9 is lighthearted at the beginning. It isn't so much so later on. The story grows in very unexpected ways.

And only Stein's ultimate weapon requires you to do a ridiculous time challenge (get to darn near the end of the game in 12 hours play time), everyone else's is received in the usual sidequesting sort of way.

The ending cinematic of FF9 is just amazing. I recently found myself tempted to play the game again just to get to that, then remembered my PS2 has been broken for over a year Sad
