This comic seems to have some sort of meaningful commentary about capitalism, but I'm missing it.

No, it's beautiful because Tat is a superb comic artist. The "simplicity" counts pretty strongly against it this time.

Normally Tat's long Sunday strips with no words tell an effective story. This one doesn't. Lil' Buddha goes to the "Nirvana" "Chi Station" and gets "Middle Path" fuel and eats "Ohm" snacks. This isn't an interesting story, and none of these references are clever, none are commentary, none are funny. If your impulse was to think they were, it's out of force of habit, because Tat normally makes clever and funny references.

This is a comic form he normally uses extremely well, but this time it's just a hollow shell.

I was half expecting Goku would be there as well, refilling his cloud.

I'm afraid I have to agree with Sojobo here. The comic is visually nice, and the mood effect isn't bad, but there's no real substance to it.

Even though I'm afraid I agree with Sojobo, I still enjoy it because it's a nice comic strip. It's nicely drawn, colored well but doesn't make me laugh or have anything groundbreaking over it (like they usually have).

Still, the fact that there's a new comic every day and a special large colored version released every Sunday means that I don't expect them all to be top notch either. I don't get upset or disappointed if a comic doesn't make me laugh, because the other comics he makes usually does. If I'm in a mood where I do want a laugh, I can just go back a few days in the archive.

Still, I like this comic as it also reflects the mood I'm currently in. Not zen, but more... everyday life zen. I mean, it's Sunday after all. Isn't that the mood we should all be in today?

And I too want a hovercloud, but I'm afraid I can't afford the Chi.

So nobody seems to have said anything about the mini-dragon. He's new, right? Doesn't seem like the big dude we all know.

My first post, yay.

Anyways, I don't believe it has to do with capitalism but something close. Did anyone noticed that their religion is based around materialism, Yet he gets gas and snacks? Why was it a dragon filling the gas anyways, dragons can fly on here, why would they need it? Why wouldn't be some buddhist there? (Maybe this'll sound better if I use a lot of questions? Smile )
