To be fair, blackberries are a noxious, invasive weed everywhere they grow. They're all over here, and once they get on to your property they never, ever, ever die. You have to get the roots out, like dandelions, or they come back forever. _________________ "Worse comes to worst, my people come first, but my tribe lives on every country on earth. We had blackberries growing behind my shed as a child. We also had poison ivy growing behind our shed. they were growing together forming some sort of itchy death berry. _________________ I have a face, with a mustache.

Also: shoot, not sapling. If you've got some blackberries that will grow into trees I'm getting the fuck off this planet right now. _________________ The older I get, the more certain I become of one thing. True and abiding cynicism is simply a form of cowardice. |

| Seriously, just replace that little larval alien from the movies with a blackberry bush and realize that its how humanity WILL meet its end. |

When I was in high school, my friend got me to read a couple of books by Tim (tom?) Robbins (I'm too lazy to research), the titles of which I forget. (Jitterbug Perfume? I think was one of them. Mr Robbins wrote "Even Cowgirls Get The Blues" but I only read two of his books and that wasn't one of them)
Anyway, the point is, in this book, he either had this incredibly amazing plan happen or one of his characters had this plan to build skybridges between all the buildings in downtown Seattle and let the blackberries grow unfettered up the buildings. The air would be cooler, the pollution non-existant and you'd have fresh blackberries to feed the population.
No point. This page's conversation about blackberries brought this nearly-thirty year old memory out of the archives and I thought I'd share. You're welcome.

My pleasures:
Today is anarchy day at stately Wing manor, which means we're all just doing whatever we want to do. No arguing about chores or wheedling to go to the store or nothing.
Also, because today is Mother's Day, I don't have to cook. GeekBoy made us breakfast (using fresh eggs one of my students gave me, a pleasure in itself), lunch was leftovers from their dinner last night (I went to hafla, another great pleasure), wing2 is making dinner and wing1 is making cookies for dessert.
And I've got 40 drawings done of the 60 I decided I need for my project. I think I'm going to make my self-imposed deadline. (: |

Took my dad to see Gary's pub today - it was nice! He looks really well on it.
Sadly, the barmaid he's been going on about turned out to be a teenage boy who frankly didn't look legal. Shame on you Gary. |
