After months of working on potty training with daughter, she finally takes herself to the potty when she has to go. She has been going on it for months just fine as long as you tell/remind her it's time to go. She otherwise seemed to have no clue as to when it was time. Apparently it just took her Daddy being pretty upset with her a couple weeks ago for her to realize the importance of the matter.

By botching an experiment, and producing a strange(but apparently repeatable) result, I have potentially doubled the number of papers we can get out of a certain chemical we've been working on.

I feel like a real scientist now!

yay for shadow and shadow's cat! and the laptop too, i guess - but i mostly hope that you and the cat will have many happy years together.

and congratulations, felgraf! you have stumbled upon not only a new result, but an important principle of producing scientific papers!

We had pretty bad freezing rain here the past couple days. So I was incredibly safe all day. I shuffled my feet everywhere, and I had to make several treacherous trips across the skating rink of a parking lot at work to help carry in Christmas presents for the kids. Then, I dropped my daughter off at my parents' house and when I went to step off their porch I fell and smacked my ass pretty hard on the step. Glad I didn't hit any other body part on that step or it might be broken. I have the biggest bruise ever on my ass right now. My Dad rushed out the door to try and help me and he fell too. We looked like a bunch of dominos out there. Luckily, my Dad fell directly on the landing of the porch and didn't fall down the two steps like myself. Mom declared after Dad fell that she was going to stay in the doorway and not try to help anyone up lol.

I just made my first sale! Wooh! (We've been selling stuff, but this is the first one I've made in our new space.)

Also I scored the most amazing pair of scissors yesterday for $5 - lefthanded steel forged Mundial scissors worth about $45. Amusingly I had just been musing to myself about how I'd love to come across a pair just like it while wandering a thrift store, but figured that was never going to happen - and there they were! Very Happy

>_> No one else gets why I'm excited, I think. It's like having a fancy sword, and I want to make a sword rack style holder for them.

I bought some beautiful wool fabric that I'm going to make waistcoats out of. I only paid around $50 (Australian) for 2.5m of wool from the remnants section, half a metre each of two different wools (one nice bottle green and one grey herringbone), half a metre of green fabric for the back of the bottle green wool, plus some haberdashery.

Also today I got to meet someone that I made friends with over the internet! I'm visiting the family for Christmas and they live in the area, so I actually met up with them! So exciting to meet in person.
