Today I learned that Oregon is (by state law) a sanctuary state.

Neat.

i moved out of my shitty awful apartment into a much nicer one this weekend. it's in a different city, and tomorrow i start my new job. I'm pretty excited, but also super nervous.

many congrats on nicer apartment and new job! hope your first day went well (although as i recall, that one is often taken up with filling out paperwork and learning where everything is. so i guess i should hope the second day goes well).

first and second day went well! I'm confident i can do the work well, and the novelty of not dealing with customers directly is not gunna wear off for a loooong time.

Broken out of my mental prison finally. did laundry. bought groceries and, most importantly, picked up new glasses after going without for way too long. seeing is good.

I remember when I first looked through binoculars and was amazed that I could actually see things, and the drive home after getting my first pair, realizing that holy shit people can actually see the individual leaves on the trees?!?

I know it's time to move when I've opened the final box from the last move.

(I'll match this pair of socks someday)

Apparently, John Scalzi is a friend of a friend, and he's a fairly pleasant fellow to banter with.

Soon we will be getting more chickens, and we are all set up to sell eggs this year.

I may also be able to go back to school for business administration, which would help me so much with the entrepreneurial stuff I'm trying to do. Plus I'd have to take 3 classes in Economics, which will qualify me to spew ignorant opinions about economics across the internet and act like a pompous "expert" asshat.

I was reminded about this song a few days ago. The song is older than I am but it was something of a cult classic back in the 70's. Not so much of a song as a rambling thought process actually. It should be required listening to earn your "nerd history" badge. It does take about 20 minutes to hear the whole thing but it is definitely worth it in a "What the heck did I just listen to" sort of way. That being said:

Alice's Restaurant.
