God likes to take things literally. Love the last panel though. Dastardly pounce indeed. |

it looks as though Slick is standing on a planet not too much larger than the one that Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's little prince lived on...

Looks like slick is admitting he is fallen, I mean at this point is he asking for forgiveness? _________________

I really, really liked this one. There have been several sinfests when the characters have had a serious sort of heart-to-heart with god and he has said something rather profound. I expected one of these and was quite pleasantly surprised by the leopard. Unexpected and silly, good combination.
Not to mention a very early update. |

I can dig it, the leopard, because god loves everyone and everything, that's his thing, man. |

I honestly don't get it. Is the god belittling Slick's sincere admission? What was the point of the god's behavior here? A bit of actual help might have been more appropriate. I don't know what those of you who claim to love this particular strip are seeing in it. |

The fact that the response IS inappropriate is the excellent part.

I hope you were eating chili, because otherwise that's a rather strange response. |

Maybe the idea is to accept it, and move on.
What are Slick's sins, really?
Other than trying to sell his soul to the devil the only other things he does is lusting after women, looking at porn, doing drugs, and wanting to be rich and famous.
Those are some amazingly human sins, sins that if put in the right perspective really aren't all that sinful. Who here hasn't at least tried drugs? I bet not a lot of you. Who hasn't looked at porn? Even the girls for christ sake! Who the fuck doesn't want to be rich and famous? I don't even want to hear someone say they don't.
And lusting after women? Come on, he's been trying to get Monique for years now, trying and failing. A guy can't continue to be a one woman man (and this goes vice versa for women) if he isn't getting anything back from his affections. A relationship is a two way street, it's give and take, if one person is giving and never receiving, and the other is only taking and never giving then can you really call that a relationship?
I think if anything, god is affectionately bemused by Slick's situation and just waiting around for Slick to finally realize "Hey wait a second... am I really all that bad, what are my sins in the blink of god's eye?" Or I guess in the shifting from one hand puppet to the next.
That leopard is just being a leopard, having a good time being all spotted. Maybe Slick should learn to do the same. _________________ B.D. |

I havn't tried drugs. Havn't smoked either. Just doesnt appeal to me.
But I drink, and I look at porn, so I cant exactly preach to others.

Totally agree with you there. Until Monique at least gives Slick a chance in terms of a relationship, Slick cant be faulted for looking for affection elsewhere.
