I was thinking about something I just posted in another thread, in regards to Slicks persuit of Monique. So I popped in my Avenue Q soundtrack, listened to the song Theres A Fine Fine Line, and realised it was an almost perfect way of describing the way I now feel about the subject.

The lyrics are as follows:

There's a fine, fine line between a lover and a friend;
There's a fine, fine line between reality and pretend;
And you never know 'til you reach the top if it was worth the uphill climb.

There's a fine, fine line between love
And a waste of time.

There's a fine, fine line between a fairy tale and a lie;
And there's a fine, fine line between "You're wonderful" and "Goodbye."
I guess if someone doesn't love you back it isn't such a crime,
But there's a fine, fine line between love
And a waste of your time.

And I don't have the time to waste on you anymore.
I don't think that you even know what you're looking for.
For my own sanity, I've got to close the door
And walk away...
Oh...

There's a fine, fine line between together and not
And there's a fine, fine line between what you wanted and what you got.
You gotta go after the things you want while you're still in your prime...

There's a fine, fine line between love
And a waste of time.

So yeah. Its not like I dont want Slick and Monique to get together, but it seems like for every step forward Slick takes forward, Monique takes one back. (EDIT: Or Vice versa, as magic pointed out) There has to come a point where you realise the futility of a situation and move on.

Monique aren't necessarily taking a step back all the time either, but she definitively is not taking many steps forward either. But there are examples of Monique taking that step too, and Slick taking one step back.

But yep, that song could fit many relationsships stuck in the starting position.

(On a sidenote, are there by any chance a dvd out of Avenue Q as well? I've been kinda wanting to see it since all the variants of "The internet is for porn" started trickling out, but the closest I am aware of, has been London, and I never could quite afford the trip)

Sadly no. I was lucky enough to see it once in London, which was quite a trip considering I live in the West of Scotland, and bought the audio CD online. I think you can download it, but it would be from people sneaking in camcorders to film it, so dont expect great quality.
