the real problem is when you re-lax.

work has done something completely shitty (like, shitty enough that it makes me never want to be here ever) and any time i complain i get blamed for all my own problems because of my 'attitude'.

i just want to set things on fire.

or cry.

maybe both.

It seemed like you liked (well not minded) the place you were working, so what's up now?

Something just occurred to me, at three and a half months, this is the longest I have been unemployed in the past nine years.

WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

I'm sorry! I was in that situation for years. I hope something will turn up for you soon that will improve things!

Thanks =) I do want to go somewhere else (preferably west, of course).

I worry I'm not qualified for anything and I get scared.

Or move to San Fran or anywhere with a theater scene and see what happens.

We are having extreme cost saving measures at work that, if it doesn't improve, will result in at least a 10% layoff.

Got an email this morning saying that the unit is sponsoring a massage therapist to come in and give free 10 minute massages to employees.

Why!?

We're having similar issues; our budget has been cut by 17%. This is after a pretty hefty cut last year too. Last year they tried to handle the cut mostly through attrition (not replacing people who retire/quit, encouraging early retirement, having people who get notices go to underserved regions, etc.) I can only assume that this bigger cut will mean layoffs. Seeing as I've got a whopping 9 months seniority, I worry a bit about my job (though since I'm bilingual, have had 2 letters of recommendation and a large coke seizure, I think I'm fairly safe.) I think several of my fellow hires might be at risk though (and possibly me as well.)

People want services but don't want to pay for them, I guess. =\

It could backfire though if someone's pay grade is too high. A friend of mine works for the US Park service. He got his masters in History, for "more opportunities and a better pay grade", and wound up getting knocked down to part time when budget cuts were implemented. In a way, you're safer if you're 'well qualified', but not 'over qualified'.

My apartment looks like a bachelor lives here. I need the management people to want to come do an inspection, or maintenance to come fix something, or have someone who suddenly needs to crash here for a night so I have a reason to clean...

In the mean time, I'm going to make shepherd's pie.
