A coworker came up to me and asked where I found some information I'd provided some of the nurses on a particular arrhythmia. I said, "The American Journal of Cardiology," she said, "No, where did you actually get it?" so I said, "Umm... online?" Apparently some of my coworkers "disagree" with the article and decided it was "wrong" because I found it "online."

As is my style, I offered a mea culpa, and to present any new, contradictory information to the nurses myself as soon as one of them presented me with an equivalently sourced, cited, peer-reviewed article on the same topic.

I don't know who "some of my coworkers" are (the one that brought it up wouldn't say - it may just be her), but I'm having trouble not thinking of them as a bunch of idiots.

My grandmother is dying (she's got intestinal cancer and recently broken her hip), the doctor said that it can happen any time.

It feels so....empty....not being able to do anything but wait...can't console my mom, or my grandmother.

The most I can do is just sit next to my grandmother bed and hold her hand.

Outside there are car horns cause someone got married (it's a tradition here, to drive around city honk horns, when people get married) I get a call from a friend inviting me to new years party.

Sorry about your grandmother, Martian (can I call you Martian?). It's horrible that there is nothing to be done - but at least you can be there with her.

She passed away on Sunday, she was pretty much in comma from Saturday. While I never seen eye-to-eye with her, argued and disagreed with her a lot (around the most mundane things), however she was an energetic and active person that helped a lot of people.

When someone dies slowly and their final hours are spent in pain,once they die it's strange mix of feelings of sadness and relief that they don't suffer anymore.

My condolences, Martian. I hope you will remember the good things about your grandmother who loved you, and you will learn to laugh about the petty disagreements.

I realized at my grandmother's funeral last year that it might be the last time that I'd see some of my extended family members - there might be no more occasions to bring us together. I made an effort to speak with many of them, and enjoyed our time together, in the few hours we had. The older you get, the more you appreciate the grounding effect of the people who knew you when you were small, who knew your parents as children, who remember the family stories.

In the coming days, you may meet people who knew your grandmother long ago. Take the opportunity to ask them about her, and what she was like when she was young, or the interesting things that she did. You will be glad you asked.
