I get a severance package. They will help pay the fees for this place that helps you get jobs and they won't fight unemployment. I'm screwed on my insurance though.

Holy Christ I hate Cobra. If I continue my health insurance after my employment through Cobra it's $489/person. Love my life.

Yeah, you'll be paying the part you used to pay and the part your employer used to pay. It's rough, especially if, like me, you can't go without. That's kind of why we need universal health care not attached to your employer... Anyway, I hope you find something quickly. Being unemployed sucks.

Yep and I agree. I will be continuing only the dental because it's $28 bucks a month and I can tolerate that. And I do love my shitty severance. Ten years = 5 weeks pay for them. Nice eh?

So a friend from work appears to be losing it. Since going on L&I a couple of months ago after being injured on the job she's become increasingly incoherent. Reading her facebook timeline from two months ago to today is like watching someone lose touch with reality. She's gone from being eloquent to rambling, with clear flares of paranoia. I'm assuming it's medication related - she wouldn't be the first person (or even the first I've known) to abuse pain meds and end up crazy. Sooo... we're going over to her house to talk to her about it.

unfortunately I can relate to going on pain meds for a perfectly legitimate reason and ending up completely losing it. I hope you can reach her before things deteriorate too much.

hey, mustache, I know what you're going through, I've been there myself. I now know that it had fuck all to do with her and everything to do with my own insecurities and doubts as to how she could love me when I didn't exactly like myself. there is really nothing she will be able to do to make you feel better, it's all on you. I know it's much harder to change your feelings than it is to recognize that it's your hang up but eventually you will and if it doesn't happen it time to fix things you're probably going to regret it.

I don't mind losing, but I mind losing when I know I should have won.

conservative christian, right-wing republican, straight, white, american males
gay bashing, black fearing, poor fighting, tree killing, regional leaders of sales
soul saving, flag waving, bush loving, land paving, hater of hippies like me
quite diligently working so hard to keep the free reins of this democracy
from tree hugging, peace loving, pot smoking, barefooting, lazyass hippies like me
tree hugging, love making, pro choice and gay wedding, folk singing hippies like me
skin color blinded, conspiracy minded, protestors of corporate greed
we who have nothing and most likely will Ďtill we all wind up locked up in jails
by conservative christian, right-wing republican, straight, white, american males

yes I'm making light of it, but a legitimate horror for me lately.

I've been fretting all week over an assignment that could be summed up as "Find a virtually unknown professional and do as much research as possible on them."

fuck.

As in, a class of professional, or a particular person? Lots of almost unknown professions... geologist with an oil company, currency exchange arbitrage, cnc laser operator, chicken sexer.

In a nutshell, someone involved in film, tv, comic, or game production that would be in a position to listen to a pitch and act upon it.

what about that douchebag cartoonist guy? whatever the fuck his name is, that asshole who posts here every once in awhile trying to get people to read his god awful comic. I think it's a safe bet to say that he is virtually unknown in the world of webcomics... though calling him a professional is pushing it. you can do your research on how he is a sexist, misogynistic, piece of shit.

Yeah, Jason's way unknown, maybe too unknown. I found someone, so it's cool.

Sinfest forums reaching the point where there's an unironic roleplay thread that people participate in without vomiting at what's become of their lives.
