You came damn near decriminalizing marijuana, too, except for the election of the aforementioned Conservatives (and their used car salesman PM, Harper, who ironically enough took his seat from Preston Manning). If you can fight off Alberta's desire to privatize health care (look how well it works for us!) I'd say you aren't doing so bad.

Heh. I suppose from that angle we're not doing so bad. Of course most of that was the work of Pierre Eliot Trudeau, and the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. The current liberal party has none of Trudeau's intelligence and charm. Stephen Dion is just as much of a cardboard cutout as Harper is. And the NDP doesn't have a hope in hell of getting elected (probably for the best). While Americans are faced with candidates who have actual platforms and personalities, Canadian politics is bland (or, conversely, filled with governmental financial scandals). Harper won't even hug his kids in public, for crying out loud!
(I was also going to point out the Harper succeeded Stockwell Day, but then I remembered that Harper won a by-election in the riding that Manning occupied. It shames me that a non-Canadian knows more about Canadian politics than most Canadians.) _________________ I come from Downtown, born ready for you / Armed with skill and determination / And grace, too |

Polls are closed. Clinton holds a narrow lead over Obama, but then again, only 10% are reporting. _________________

And yet they are already saying McCain took the Republican side...
Maybe they just count the republican votes faster? _________________ The older I get, the more certain I become of one thing. True and abiding cynicism is simply a form of cowardice. |

Plus, it fits what they thought beforehand.
Clinton's gap has doubled as the vote count has. We're at 22%. _________________

According to Yahoo 36% reporting has Obama down only three percent, I don't think we'll be able to call this one.
Also, Romney's creeping up on McCain, only seven percent separating them now. _________________ The older I get, the more certain I become of one thing. True and abiding cynicism is simply a form of cowardice. |

Clinton's still up by 2%, with 88% reporting. The primary's been called for Clinton.
