Has tat jumped the shark? Or can we pinpoint this randomness to fat tuesday drunkness or drug abuse?

It reminds me of the random tangential one-shots of older Sinfest (apple + orange, etc.) and I think it's a decent diversion. It certainly beats all the political crap (which has okay messages but feels out of character).

It feels especially like the apple + orange one because it comes from a phrase, too..

And hungry for fish sticks.

Anyone who doesn't get it: "A woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle."

oh man - this is something i haven't seen in _ages_.

for a while, there was a t-shirt one would see, emblazoned "a woman without a man is like a fish without a bicycle".

tat, it seems, thinks fish are more open to experience - or perhaps more interested in moving on.

actually, i think the last panel is a great comment on men (from a modern feminist's point of view) - we don't need them, but they can be fun enough that we want them.

actually, i got the impression that the last panel meant that the bicycle (or men) isn't as unneeded as the expression implies. bicycles provide an entertaining riding experience. =>

perhaps tat is just saying that guys aren't that bad after all, so give them a chance sometime?

So would that imply that man without a woman is like a bicycle without fish?

Um, especially for those of you who don't get it, am I the only one to have been aware of the original phrase, "a man needs a god like a fish needs a bicycle"? It first came from Irina Dunn in 1970, who in turn quoted it from an 1800s philosophical work about the 'new atheism movement'.

I'm quite sure that over the years it's been modified in the form of "A (person) needs a (object) like a fish needs a bicycle" (the "man needs a woman" one was paraphrased by the feminist Gloria Steinem, in 2000), but espescially given recent context as well as the nature of Sinfest, it could well be...

Precisely! Just because you don't need it, doesn't mean it can't be fun - that is, something you do because you want to do it. Just like, I suppose, sex or religion.

Women need men just about as much as Men need women.

Fuck relationships.

The hump and dump has ALWAYS been an appropriate way to approach romance.
