I don't think I get the last panel.
Hope it's just the absence of the morning coffee.

I don't care how goofy the build-up is, the last panel is priceless.

The internet open, free and honest? You must be kidding me, Tat...

Open? Maybe, if you don't live in China or any country with an above-average intelligence service. Free? Naw, just look at my internet bill of this month. Honest? Only one word: Wikipedia.

This debate has been popping up a lot recently.

Is the internet a good thing? Blah blah blah, a lot of people consider it just as damaging as the T.V.

I for one find it is open and honest and free.... it's just that I worry about impressionable youths logging on and seeing more than their little minds are ready to see.

Which makes a person wonder, what is the right age? I don't know, I'm not against the internet whatsoever, I'm against bad parenting.

Internet: Go to search engine, type in "news". Find google news, see a listing of articles related by event from over 100 different sources, read and make your own decision. And there is much more.

T.V.: Go to one of the select major news stations and find your highly regulated, safety-packaged "bite-sized" news.

Internet: Advertisements take up the margins of your screen. Intrusion is minimal.

T.V.: Every few minutes what you are viewing is interrupted by obnoxious and long winded advertisements. You have no choice.

And so on. Which would you feel better about? If it was your only access to the outside world, which would give you a more honest picture- the T.V., or the internet?

on the other hand, internet-based misinformation is much more easy, and depending on countries and legislation, wholesale censorship and eavesdropping can become trivial.

Also, there is a greater risk of creating straw men, sock puppets, alternate IDs, or impersonating of trusted sources. 'Guerrilla advertising' is an appropriate relatively recent example.

poor tv. monique just doesn't appreciate how hard it is to be the older child. you have to set all the examples (and hey - wasn't t.v. touted as open, honest and free in its early years?) - but then you get out in the world more, you meet these bad people but you're too young to understand they're bad, and they start turning you on to all this stuff - junk food commercials and reality shows and the like - and the next thing you know, they've lured you into their studio and then they're selling you out to the highest bidder and you wanted to be open and honest and innocent too, but they are too strong, with their money and their fcc regulations and...and......

that internet, it'll learn. thinks it's sooooooo easy being good.

Surprised

It might not be perfect, but the argument for four panels is effective. And the fourth panel is awesome....in fact...

now mine mine mine! Hee hee.
