We should allow our military to use depleted uranium to fight terrorism.

of course this is a naive hypothetical on my part, wherein when i answer the question i am assuming that terrorism is actually being fought, not just targets of opportunity across lawless borders in extralegal wars that become quagmires that we were stuck in because our war leaders were shitty neoconservative cultish wankers for eight years

Huh. I don't know much about this subject, but I'm not sure why it was posted in the news thread.

Well, DU rounds WOULD probably be more effective against Robot Santa.

I think Fox News and their ilk are so used to shouting about fake scandals that it is hard to sympathize and work with them when an actual thing happens. They seem to be blowing this out to the same proportion they do imaginary fake scandals.

If you can't muster up a link to a news article, I can't muster up a response. That's my rule for this thread.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2013_Department_of_Justice_investigations_of_reporters

Can't vouch for the neutrality of the article. I would post news articles (as per the thread), but there are tons coming from both sides of the issue and I think wikipedia has the best chance of being unbiased.

Long and short of what I see is the sanctity of the journalism profession is being threatened by what *could* result in journalists no longer being protected from prosecution for publishing classified information.

Add into that the fact that the Attorney General told some bald-faced lies about his involvement with the case, and it makes me cringe. I hate FOX news as much as the next person (I actually didn't know of their involvement, I had thought it was strictly the AssocPress that was involved), but the implications of such a top figure lying about this, and the seizure of telephone records and going after journalists as "criminal co-conspirators" seems wrong.

Apparently, this commercial has caused so much trouble that General Mills, the maker of Cheerios, has had to turn off the comments on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=kYofm5d5Xdw

We are a bunch of bastards indeed.
