Oh, and two weeks ago there were some attacks involving a blowgun.

Uh, I don't suppose anyone's got some brilliant new research to announce from the university? No? *sigh*

Man, I am twisted, or maybe I realize the reality vs. the fantasy of nude beaches:

Dudebro worker who actually sent the tweet: MOM!?!?!?!?!?!?
Mom: Well dear, both your father and I have been laid off for almost two years now . . .
Worker: *huddles in a ball, cries*
FX: bell sound of door opening
Mom: Oh, there's your grandmother now. Money's been tight for her too since Grandpa died and they cut her benefits . . .
Worker: NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

So Anthony Weiner tried to run for mayor of New York City...

Quote:
Anthony Weiner has two big problems tonight. One, he's getting crushed in New York City's Democratic primary for mayor. With 68% of precincts in, he has just 5% of the vote.

Two, Sydney Leathers, a Las Vegas woman with whom he carried on a sexting relationship, crashed his "victory party." Before Weiner showed up to address supporters at Connolly's Pub in Midtown, Leathers was hanging out on the sidewalk, waiting to berate him in front of assembled press. His campaign desperately wanted to make sure there wasn't a confrontation in front of cameras.

Weiner is resourceful, and he had a plan. There's a McDonald's next to the bar, with a back door leading to a stairway into the bar's rear entrance. So Weiner got into his own victory party by sprinting through a McDonalds with the press and Leathers chasing behind him.

I hope someone had this playing on their cell phone.

People in New York City are illegally having dinner.

Quote:
As you sit down to dinner, this story illustrates eating out like you have never experienced before. We are talking about super-secret, illegal dining experiences hosted in homes.

CBS 2 investigative reporter Tamara Leitner went undercover to see firsthand how this underground world works.

It may look like a dinner party, but itís really an underground supper club.

The diners are a mix of New Yorkers and tourists. CBS 2ís undercover cameras captured one experience ó eight people who didnít know each other eating a meal in a strangerís home.

The horror! People could be consuming more than the government mandated limits on sodium, drinking sugary beverages from larger than 16oz cups, tobacco smoke could be wafting nearby! Hopefully SWAT teams will be called in to save these people from themselves.

You mean people are effectively operating a restaurant open to the paying public without subjecting it to health inspections, reporting income, paying fair wages, keeping various levels of insurance current, and generally doing the things any legit business is supposed to do?
I notice your article doesn't say anything about these being organized to get around the serving size limits on junk food, so I wonder why you're even bringing that up when there are more obvious concerns.

Horrible, isn't it? Voluntary transactions going on without the benevolent iron thumb of governmental Top Men ensuring that the get a slice of the pie, be it in licensing fees, costly environmental impact studies, fines for operating contrary to often absurd and arbitrary rules, etc.?

Not to the people who participate in them. They seem to be accepting of any risks. But how dare they subject themselves to risks the government things they shouldn't?

Because we all know things were objectively better before the iron thumb of the government enforced things like food safety standards and health codes. But of course we can just make exceptions to the laws for anybody who wants them!

http://www.businessinsider.com/nasa-confirms-that-voyager-1-has-left-the-solar-system-2013-9

Confirmed: Voyager left the solar system around Aug. 25, 2012.

I'd like to point out that we, as a race, have built an object, launched it into space, had it travel 12 billion miles over a span of 36 years and it still fucking works.

There's still the anomalously non-changing magnetic field data to sort out. This latest paper strengthens, but doesn't confirm, the case that Voyager has left the heliopause.

The comments on that article are the best example of pants-on-head idiotic I've seen in a long time. Seriously.
