Nuclear deal reached with Iran

And of course Israel is spinning this progress and the better control over Iran's enrichment program as another step along the road to Iran secretly creating a nuclear weapon. Because getting Iran to give up some of their enriched U, set a lower cap to how much they can enrich it, and allowing greater access to UN inspectors is all somehow going to make it easier to create a nuke without the world finding out.

and i hear the republicans are saying obama only did it to take attention away from the botched launch of the ACA.

Please tell me you're joking, and that they're not actually saying the exact same thing they said about the Senate changing filibuster rules.

Apparently those anti-porn filters the UK is getting will also block "extremist" views, to protect the country. I don't know why this would make anyone nervous. I mean, it's not like politicians ever label simple opposing political views as "extremism" - this will certainly be limited to terrorism and such.

I'm of the belief that David Cameron is actually the reincarnation of Hitler.

Oops, guess that's getting blocked in the UK.

i heard it on NPR, but i haven't seen it elsewhere.

but hey, if they figure that's what the filibuster change was really about (rather than, say, something that people have been agitating for since this congress started its session) - i wouldn't be surprised if they figured the administration managed to bring something to fruition at just the exact right time, after however many years of trying to negotiate with iran.

because the fact that they are too incompetent to handle the roll-out of an on-line enrollment system doesn't mean they aren't capable of devious manipulation of foreign governments.[/url]

Man i know people like to bag on the healthcare website, and maybe its just me but i can think of no successful analogue for an online launch that will be hit by that many people to compare it to. Every one I can think of either had time to grow into popularity from starting small or spent weeks to even months after launch near unuseable.

Edit: and I don't say that as an excuse, but really, expectations should have been managed early on.

One of the Congressional inquiries went into the testing of the website before it was rolled out. Apparently several weeks before the official rollout, it failed testing with two hundred simultaneous users. Two hundred. At launch it failed with twenty thousand users, which is technically better, but still a worse failure to keep up with reasonable user estimates than Sim City.

Sometimes I hate my countrymen. It's impossible to discuss rationally about the Dutch and their racism. They'll instantly start yelling while stuffing their fingers in their ears. It's like reading youtube comments. Meanwhile newspaper column writers write about it just to receive attention while not actually addressing the problem.

Oh, I know that feeling. Where I live, everything bad is blamed on immigrants. Health Service stretched to breaking point? That's because of immigrants, apparently. Social housing? All taken by immigrants, they say. Welfare bill too high? That'll be because of immigrants again.

The above opinions are printed and broadcast as fact through practically every large media outlet. And *none* are actually supported by the facts.

You guys should try America. We're a post-racial society. We even elected one of those dark fellas. Nothing racially motivated ever happens here.

Yeah it's annoying as hell. It's like people just really don't get it. Even perfectly reasonable people I know say that Gordon's remarks weren't racist because he was making jokes and also he was positive so there was nothing bad and how dare you accuse us of racism! Aren't you the real racist?

It's stupid because these people aren't dumb or want to be racist, which means they can't perceive any of their actions or remarks as racist.

Uhm... I'm like 99% certain that's a fake clip, so it's not really 'news'.

The only reason I'm commenting on this is because there actually has been discussion of the whole Zwarte Piet issue in Canada.
