Snowden could still be in Hong Kong, I doubt he'd stay put after revealing himself.

If we don't hear a single peep about him anymore in the coming weeks, then we should be concerned.

So apparently the state of California can wax poetically* about a werewolf erotica for 30 pages and still not decide if it's actually bestiality or not.

Quote:
On the other hand, the sex appears to be between consenting adults. No minors are involved. No bestiality is portrayed (unless werewolves count). And there is no sadomasochism.

*okay so it isn't very poetic but still.

i'm more surprised than anything else that it was unanimous.

Agreed completely. Finally, some fucking sense restored to the whole gene patent mess... and it came from THIS Supreme Court?

Ditto. I wasn't sure how it was going to go, but unanimous was definitely not in my prediction. Pretty cool. I hope it sets a strong precedent for other ethically questionable areas of medicine... but I'm not holding my breath.

i'm a bit surprised that thomas wrote the opinion. but it's great news for genetic testing. i hear a lot here about genetics and cancer, but i didn't realize until the anjolina jolie thing that it was so expensive to get tested for the breast cancer genes - hopefully the prices will start to come down, as soon as there is some competition.

i don't think that response was to you - that was to someone asking opinions about "the eric holder scandal" without providing any detail on which of the many scandals being touted was meant. you kinda gotta give people some specifics on what you are talking about.

and really, it's dogen's rule. dogen has this thing about actual data. some of the rest of us will get interested in wild speculation.

as long as it is _specific_ wild speculation.

Those two rapists got absurdly light sentences. That said, the Anonymous hacker is facing a maximum of ten years. People don't often get the maximum. here is a decent article on how federal sentencing guidelines actually work, as opposed to how the media portrays them. I'm somewhat unclear if the hacker is being tried in federal or state courts, but given that the FBI was apparently involved, I'm going with federal.

WSJ: Snowden supporters gather in Hong Kong

Incidentally I am wearing a Socialist Action (HK) t-shirt right now.

Wow, as if the story wasn't fucked up enough as is. I also like the part where everyone involved in the cover-up gets to keep the jobs and go about their daily lives like nothings wrong.

India to send world's last telegram. Stop.
Apparently, Indian telegraphy service peaked in the 1980s.
