http://gma.yahoo.com/amazon-accused-cheating-customers-shipping-costs-210708580--abc-news-personal-finance.html

While not quite the same issue, and as much as I like Amazon, their pricing practices are indeed shady. My wife put few items in her "cart" the other day, totaling ~ $36.00. Of the items, three were unrelated books for the kids (two copies of 2 of Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH and a copy of Princess Labelmaker to the Rescue!: An Origami Yoda Book) , a pack of new dry-erase markers, and a $2 bookmark for the sake of saving on the $8.99 in shipping since >$35 gets you free shipping . . . the next day, less than 12 hours later, two of the books were "bundled" as a discount which brought the total to . . . ~ $33.00.

That's silly of them, because that means you can just add another cheap item to get the discount.

Now that free shipping doesn't come at $25 anymore, I don't try to buy extra for free shipping. I definitely spend less - and Amazon Prime is now even further out of my budget. And a lot of items I used to buy are 'add on' only now.

I think none of this would be as bad if their search engine weren't such crap.

They're sending a package, not a person.

They aren't flying drones to people's houses just yet, so someone has to deliver the package.

Why does this make me think of male strippers attempting to get someone's Amazon order to the door, while trying desperately to avoid a cartoonish menagerie of aggro'd Australian deathfauna?

I was pretty convinced that they just strapped packages to whatever terrifying wild animal they could find first and then pointed them in the right direction. (I used to field a quite a few calls and emails from angry Australians about their lost packages.)

The company they use around here sucks. They mark packages delivered, I guess to keep their audits up, but the actual package can show up maybe sometime in the next few weeks... if at all.

I've stopped using them until they get rid of LaserShip as a carrier.

Why not just pay the dangerous animals to deliver packages? Then they'll be model citizens, and everyone can stop joking about Australia's dangerous animals.

they keep eating all the payroll people we send down there

we tried to set it up by email but Australia only has one computer and when we tried to install more they ate the computer guys too

so we tried to do it by phone but they ate all the people we sent down there to set up the phones

so we tried to do it by carrier pigeon but the pigeons mutated and became dragons

see, it sounds like they don't actually need to be employed - they are getting plenty to eat as it is.

Looks like Ukraine just got a little smaller and Russia a little larger.
