I don't remember if it was in this forum or the old one, but someone posted about a Dell Laptop that burst into fire at a Tokyo Convention.
Well:
Notebook Battery Recall
Dell has identified a potential issue associated with certain batteries sold with Dell LatitudeTM , InspironTM , XPSTM and Dell Precision Mobile WorkstationTM notebook computers. In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and other regulatory agencies, Dell is voluntarily recalling certain Dell-branded batteries with cells manufactured by Sony and offering free replacements for these batteries. Under rare conditions, it is possible for these batteries to overheat, which could pose a risk of fire. For more information click here. [Announced August 15, 2006].
Please forgive if this is a double post. _________________ "An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind."

You have no idea what a pain in the ass this recall announcement has been in my office. There must be about 3,000 Dell Latitude D600 and D610's in this area alone in AT&T's offices and field operations. I couldn't step out of my cubicle without someone asking me to see if they had one of the Sony batteries under recall. I've actually taken to carrying the crib sheet with the suspect batch numbers on it, because I know as soon as I'm visible (and other than my team lead, I'm the most visble tech in the group) to an end user with a Dell portable, I'll get asked about it. _________________ The two most abuntant elements in the universe are hydrogen and stupidity - Harlan Ellison |

Take the number of vehicles in the field, A, multiply by the probable rate of failure, B, multiply by the average out-of-court settlement, C. A times B times C equals X. If X is less than the cost of a recall, we don't do one. _________________ fight |

Ehn, maybe he did, maybe he didn't. As I recall, Fight Club was a rather popular movie. _________________ bi-chromaticism is the extraordinary belief that there exists only two options
