Or skillful enough when it comes to fact finding to fake it.

In the Divine Comedy Plato, Socrates, Aristotle, etc. are in Limbo, the first circle of hell.

The Divine Comedy? That was conceived in a time long after any of those men lived.

You can't use that as a direct interpretation.

Can you reference something else that would place Plato in hell?

It's your point you seem to be trying to prove, not mine.

You find something else.

I did, if you had followed the link I posted it explains it all.

Also, I said something that was a fact. You said uh-uh no it's not. it is now up to you to prove me wrong.

You posted a link to the Divine Comedy, something NOT written by Plato.

But fine:

The Republic

Allegory of the Cave

Maybe Plato found it entertaining and ran with it. It's not like slick when back in time and he was doing fucking shadow puppets. He has had thousands of years to change . . .

But the Divine is part of culture in general, and has been influencing many artists - including Tatsuya as it seems.

Nobody here stated Plato said anything about Hell, nor that he meant Hell when talking about the cave.

But it has something TO DO with A concept of Hell. The one by Dante.

Jeez, I really don't see where the problem is. It's like saying Christmas has nothing "to do" with Christmas trees since they are a Pagan tradition adapted later on, and Christ did not find presents under a pine.

Look, I just don't think it should be thrown into a concept of hell, because when you read the actual part of The Republic it has nothing to do with hell.

So why is ANYONE fighting so damn hard to prove that its possible that it could somehow take place in hell. It's an alternate concept, and sure someone... (SOMEONE) placed the cave in hell... that doesn't mean it actually does, it doesn't mean it wont ever.

It just means, that I doubt very much that Plato was thinking of hell (a concept that didn't exist in his time) when he wrote the Allegory.

So shut up, jeeze.

BD, do actually try and read what people are saying here. No one is saying the the Allegory of the cave is about Hell, or that Plato wrote anything about Hell. Rather, the point is that Dante's Inferno places Plato in Hell, and Dante's vision of Hell pretty much set the tone for all subsequent visions of Hell, so here we are in Hell, and there's Plato, still telling the same damn stories.

Also, remember that this is Li'l E's pretty lame version of Hell, and it's not beneath Li'l E to put something like that in there because "Ooooh, shadows... SCARY!"
