If this were Opposite Day, then I'd have to say I just saw an Oscar-worthy A-list star vehicle that showcased its brilliant script with incredibly moving performances and a sure directorial hand in what must have been the most enjoyable and critically acclaimed movie of 2009. Ah, but this movie was in fact Opposite Day! I was innocently sitting in my living room with my wife and child when we were accosted by a gang of "actors" led by Pauly Shore, backed by what I assume was a crack "writing" team of Ritalin-addled bubble-gum-popping fifth-graders, and a "budget" that wouldn't have covered Lindsay Lohan's dinner drinks bill, in a straight-to-remaindered-VHS-bin "family" movie that deserves all the "scare" quotes I can muster. Do they make Listerine eye wash? Oh, this was bad, in the completely not so-bad-its-good but what-were-they-thinking how-did-this-stinker-ever-get-greenlit kind of way.

It might be some time before I let my beloved offspring pick the movie for family movie night again.

Lockout with Guy Pierce. I really like Guy Pierce. This move is FULL of one liners that are just amazing. I giggled my way through all of them. The plot is pretty basic and cheap: there is a prison breakout, a president's daughter, a frame up, and espionage tacked on too! However, the science is atrocious. I'll take the idea that they have figured out a false gravity in space - no big deal in a futuristic movie! - but guns with bullets in space? Not so much. It would have been an easy fix but they wanted the sparks that come with bullets even when it doesn't make a damn bit of sense.

But the one liners are SOOOOOO awesome!

Guy Pearce is brilliant.

I'm watching Mean Girls again. Every line is golden. But if you do watch it, you WILL get Calamity, and die.

That sounds quite good. I've seen the 3 Idiots film recently, so the self-explanatory title is a good motivator for watching it.

I hate that my phone still doesn't understand the difference between the word 'calamity' (eg, Halen tried to get an erection but the resultant coitus was a c-a-l-a-m-i-t-y) & when I'm quoting Mean Girls.

Finally got around to watching Steven Spielberg's Tommy Lee Jones. Why they felt like focusing so much of the movie on that side-character played by Day-Lewis I'll never know.

GI Joe 2 was just as bad as expected - actually it was a bit better (NINJAS! SEXY NINJAS!). However, skip the 3D. The 3D was just bad and added nothing to the movie.

I recently rewatched Ghost Dad, a film I watched countless times as a kid. And then my roommate told me there was a debate/meme across the internets about whether this film existed. I am disappointed I didn't know about that when it was going on, because I could have shared so many half remembered ideas.
