YaBB > phpbb
if you doubt, observe:

pages load faster, can do all kinds of neat stuff, yada yada yada....

Also, this short ass 255 character sig limit ain't too cool. any way to possibly at least double it? It's not kewl when you can't put in tags in your sig (such as color, italics, etc,) because they take you over your limit. _________________

| It is good, though, because it prevents stuff like Sparkelz' signature, which was horrible. |

| I have to ask what exactly is the difference between YaBB & phpbb? Since quite frankly it's all gibberish to me. |

One's programmed in PHP/MySQL (phpBB), the other in cgi, if what people say is correct, YaBB is probably programmed a lot better, or parses a lot faster, maybe it's smaller, I don't know. Anyone with a cursary knowledge of programming and database design could probably kludge together a better forum than phpBB.
At this point I think people use phpBB for the same reason people drink coke, brand recognition, there's probably 5 or so forum solutions better than this dreck. _________________ bi-chromaticism is the extraordinary belief that there exists only two options

I can think of at least one: when searching for your own recent posts the links take to the page and scrolls so your post is at the top of your pc screen.
more info:
http://www.yabbforum.com/
http://www.phpbb.com/
Also the ability to veiw ALL posts in a thread is great in debates.

I can ask the forum op at the board I linked what here reasonings were. I think parse rate, admin interface, and customizability were among her main concerns but I forget exactly. Hell she might even swing on by here to pitch it. _________________

is it just me - or does the new forum cycle you off more quickly than the old one? i just went for a 45-min walk, and a whole bunch of threads that were marked as "unread" when i left are now untagged.
if it keeps doing that to me, i'm _never_ going to get caught up.... _________________ aka: neverscared! |

| I've never had that happen at all. I leave my comp overnight and I never lose which posts have been read and which haven't. |

| This has nothing to do with the forums. On the website, you cannot scroll through the archives using the "First" , "Previous" and "Next" buttons. From the front page, they work. But once you are in the archived comics, you can't move around. Crazy irritating. |

It's just you.
I went to the archives, picked a comic at random and hit next a couple times as well as previous and first and they all worked. |

Did anyone notice that there is no time limit for posting? It doesn't take forever to edit something. _________________ Before God created Las he pondered on all the aspects a woman might have, he considered which ones would look good super-inflated and which ones to leave alone.
