yeah, I love how the edit contrasts the original post.
We should be able to kick people's ass!! I have a God First policy.
Therefore God kicks people's asses!! _________________ -Agamemnon.....but you can call me Jake.

That wasn't dehumanizing at all. If you put physical pleasure first, friendship and commitment go out the door. That doesn't make you less human. And you don't present yourself as someone who is seeking well-being. If that is what you are seeking, you might want to phrase things differently. You come off as someone who is still figuring out life and is therefore still seeking chemical rushes (natural or substance induced).
And that post my Zeku made no sense. Sure, getting your ass kicked is an experience but the God stuff following ... confusion abounds. I see how the God First philosophy counts as a philosophy but the way it was explained... ::shakes her head:: _________________ Before God created Las he pondered on all the aspects a woman might have, he considered which ones would look good super-inflated and which ones to leave alone.

In my experience if you seek out physical pleasure over everything else, friendships and/or commitments don't last. I thought that was clear... ::nose wrinkle:: _________________ Before God created Las he pondered on all the aspects a woman might have, he considered which ones would look good super-inflated and which ones to leave alone.

That's been my experience as well, LF. _________________ -Agamemnon.....but you can call me Jake.

I really wish it didn't work that way. Again I say: maybe I have read too much Heinlein. I am having trouble in my own life because of this pleasure seeking mentality. I really wish it worked... ::sighs:: _________________ Before God created Las he pondered on all the aspects a woman might have, he considered which ones would look good super-inflated and which ones to leave alone.

I questioned the first quote because you issued it as a generalized statement of fact, rather than an anecdote.
The second quote indicates to me that you're probably severely misinterpretting Heinlein's work, as he does not ever say (or even imply) that the primary pursuit of physical pleasure can or should dominate a life, or that such pursuit is consequence-free.
Which of his writings (please specify book and, if possible, quotes) gave you this impression? |
