Every time I see this thread, I wonder how people really feel about what they post. |

Well, andrew... I like this song. Not one of my favorites. But it sums up nicely how I've felt for the last couple of days. Kinda been physically and mentally tiring.
Perhaps we can amend our tradition, and include why we choose the songs we choose? _________________ fight |

I think that'd be pretty awesome. Also, I appreciate the explanation. =D
In the spirit of fairness:

The Cinematic Orchestra has been one of my favorites since my friend lent me Man with a Movie Camera about three years ago, and Flite is probably my favorite song of theirs. It's a drum solo disguised as a song. I was listening to it when I saw the thread, so in it went. |

Warren Zevon - Werewolves of London.
Because:
- It's catchy. Damn catchy.
- I like werewolf references.
- I like Zevon's dark humor.
- Good luck trying to get any station to play "Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner" these days.
- A'woooooooooooooooooo.
- I can actually sing it decently enough. |

I love Okinawan music. Love it. I grew up with it. I've played, sung, or danced to it for my entire life. Whenever I'm in a mood, Okinawan music makes me feel better. It's comfortable.
And lily? I hate you. I read your post and immediately needed to listen to that song again. (Thanks, Patty, for sending it to me!) |

Ezio -- Cecilia Bartoli (misera, dove son!....)
currently listening to her sing a bunch of stuff by Gluck/Metastasio. i really love opera, and in my deepest most secret (well, not anymore) dreams i am rich enough to take voice lessons and become an opera singer.
this piece pulls my soul into it. i cannot imagine the absolutely supernatural experience that must overcome someone performing this, but i wish i could. _________________

The first couple of times I posted songs it was because I was interested in what the reviewer had to say about them. Lately it's just been a bunch of songs I really like.
| LittlestMorte wrote: | | Tool - 10,000 Days (Wings Pt. 2) |
Reasons for this one:
-It's Tool, which is more or less my favorite band.
-It's the most epic song off of their new album. Especially if you listen to it with Wings Pt. 1, it's just this massive song that the band likened to modern classical music. I'd say this is a fair approximation, considering it's a vocalist, a guitarist, a bassist, and a drummer.
-Maynard absolutely nails the vocals. I don't pay attention to lyrics on anything (I've been told it's about the passing of his mother), but the sound of his voice is just so emotional and it blends perfectly into the rest of the band as a fourth instrument.
-With part 1, it's 17 minutes of the most surreal groove I've heard from mainstream rock.
When I recommend music, I usually try to match my recommendations to the tastes of whoever I'm talking to. Since I don't know the collective taste of the forum (I don't recognize 75% of the songs you guys suggest), I'm just throwing out personal favorites until I strike a chord somewhere. |
