'Tis a bit much. I like the man, but he hasn't done anything yet to merit such a price.
Still, what are you getting your knickers in a twist over, Willy?
It's a cookie. It's all it is. |

He's pointed the worlds biggest superpower into an interesting direction. Under Bush the US was trying to do everything alone, now they're back on the international diplomatic scene. The US no longer denies the existence of climate change. The stupid rocket shield that Putin was flipping out over has been cancelled. His election campaign was big & grass-roots, involving as many people as it possibly could.
Mostly, I just feel he did the logical thing and tidied up a few former fuck-ups, but then again, nobody else did. |

Here's a quote from yahoo
| Quote: | | Rather than recognizing concrete achievement, the 2009 prize appeared intended to support initiatives that have yet to bear fruit: reducing the world stock of nuclear arms, easing American conflicts with Muslim nations and strengthening the U.S. role in combating climate change. |

You shouldn't win because the guy that had the job before you was so horribly bad. _________________ attitude of a street punk, only cutting selected words out of context to get onself excuse to let one's dirty mouth loose |

And the political stance is nothing new:
| Quote: | The committee chairman said after awarding the 2002 prize to former Democratic President Jimmy Carter, for his mediation in international conflicts, that it should be seen as a "kick in the leg" to the Bush administration's hard line in the buildup to the Iraq war.
Five years later, the committee honored Bush's adversary in the 2000 presidential election, Al Gore, for his campaign to raise awareness about global warming. |

Stupid democrats never stopped him.
Clinton was nearly impeached for messing around with his secretary but nobody has the guts?power?will?brains? to go after this guy.
It's also an entire government you gotta turn around. That can't be easy.
I don't think I agree with this prize entirely, but I don't think it's completely unfounded. |

If the true intent of the LCROSS mission moon bombing is a hostile act by NASA against known extraterrestrial civilizations and settlements on the moon, then NASA and by extension the U.S. government are guilty of aggressive war which is the most serious of war crimes under the U.N. Charter and the Geneva Conventions, to which the U.S. is subject. |

From Wiki, because it was quickest and had a direct quote from the will:
| Quote: | | According to Nobel's will, the Peace Prize should be awarded "to the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses." |
Obama hasn't done shit. He started the ball rolling on getting the Guantanamo Bay detention center shut down, but it hasn't happened yet. Bill Clinton got some hostages released while Obama was president, I suppose... Also interesting to note: Obama took office ~2 weeks before the nomination period ended (that's an edit, but it certainly enhances the "doesn't deserve it" complaint!)
There's no way in hell Obama deserves this. It's official; their peace prize is no longer awarded for merit, and thus has become meaningless. |
