post your team!

in the order i drafted them. this is a 12 team, 18 round draft league with 2 keepers and this is the first year this league allowed keepers. keepers can't come from rounds 1 through 3, and any keeper moves up 3 rounds in the next year's draft.

** denotes picks taken for keeper potential

Cadillac Williams, RB
Chad Johnson, WR
Carson Palmer, QB
Laurence Maroney, RB**
Jeremy Shockey, TE
Bears D/ST
Terry Glenn, WR
Nate Burleson, WR
Matt Leinart, QB**
Wali Lundy, RB**
Brandon Jacobs, RB**
Jay Cutler, QB**
Correll Buckhalter, RB
Adam Vinateri, K
Chargers, D/ST**
T.J. Duckett, RB
Michael Pittman, RB
Marty Booker, WR

im thin at RB, but i think i can score enough points elsewise to be fine, assuming palmer doesn't go down. but the more i look at it, i'm probably going to pick up Anthony Wright just in case, and probably drop Lundy. we'll see. also, i think if corey dillon goes down, i'm gonna be set for a deep playoffs run with Moroney.

I have no idea what any of that means, besides that apparently you're going to have a car play football. Admittedly, I'd probably watch that.

Oh, BSF, I've tried to do fantasy a few times and I simply suck at it. I don't follow sports enough to know what I'm doing.

12-team, 16 round draft, no keepers.

QB's - Donovan McNabb, Phillip Rivers

Have you ever thought about an auction league, BSF? They sound like fun!

Ags, what's an auction league? Also, ditch Ryan Longwell. He will make you cry by season's end (especially if you lose points for missed field goals). Nate Kaeding would be a great pick-up if he fell through the cracks.

Being a homer is ok as long as you admit it.

If a kicker wins or loses a game for me, I'm not playing right. Razz (actually, for me anyway, Kickers are a bonus. If I get a bunch of points one week, I count that as lucky. So I use the kicker spot to be somethig of a homer. If you check my likely bench, you'll see that too.)

An auction league makes it possible for anybody to get any player. It's really an equalizer; kind of like playing with a salary cap. Maybe the best way is to kind of start an auction draft so you can see how it works:

I'll set the cap at $20 and make the minimum offer $0.10

Someone shouts out: Peyton Manning for $5
Someone else shouts out $5.50

and this goes on until the last bid, say $7.20
That person now only has $12.80 left to bid on other players.

Later on, it'll be something like:
Someone shouts out: Troy Williamson for a dime!
that person may very well get to keep Williamson for that dime.

One really has to evaluate value, trick others into overpaying for some coveted players like Tomlinson et. al. And maybe some players like Harrison can fall down and without much room on other salary cap, you might be able to pick him up for $3 instead of the $7 or so early. I've not done one (as all of my leagues are free and only for fun or bragging rights.) But I'd love to at some point.

Did this make sense?

i've though about joining an auction league, but i don't know anyone in one. i don't like to play in random leagues with people i don't know. it's jsut not any fun for me.

i forgot to mention that there are unlimited transactions and trades in our league, and a $2 minimum cost for each transaction. that's $1 to drop a player from the roster and another $1 to add one, and you must maintain a full roster. there's no waiver system per se. every player not drafted is considered a free agent, with a deadline to sign free agents set for thursday afternoon for saturday/sunday games and monday afternoon for any players playing in a thursday night game.

if more than one person wants to sign a free agent, it goes to a silent auction, with bids maxing out at $10 per player, in whole dollar amounts. if more than one person bids $10 for a free agent in a silent auction, it goes to a coin flip with a handful of owners present. in our league, like 5 people all work in the same office, so that's where the coin flips are done.

trades can be disputed by the rest of the league. everyone votes, then the owner makes a decision based on his judgement and how the voting goes, with the voting determining 99.999% of the outcome.

do you guys want to try to put together a small auction league? ags, you wanna commish?

also, i've already put in a request to drop Wali Lundy and add Anthony Wright, in case Palmer gets hurt tonight. I was hesitant to draft a 4th quarterback, but now i'm thinking i should have. heh.

i still think leinart and cutler will be solid keepers for next year though.

Man, that would be fun! I'd love to do it. I'm not sure that I'd have the time to be the commish with school and all. Let's see what interest there is.

So, who would want to do this?

(With Labor Day coming up, I could have some time for putting this together...)

The auction idea sounds cool. I'd be interested in joining but I'm not sure I'd know where or how to set it up.

I wasn't sure I'd be able to do it, but I might have enough time to put it together this weekend. I've got some real ideas, though I'm leaning toward using fictious money rather than real money.

We could, provided everyone can get on this weekend at a particular time, do the draft right here on this forum, then I could enter everything into a yahoo league (which is free, IIRC.)

But, first we need about 10-12 people to commit...
