that's a bummer. the closest thing to knowing someone in the NFL is knowing the father of the guy who controls the opening and closing of the roof and moving the field indoors and outdoors at the new Arizona Cardinals stadium. heh.

BSF -
I was pick 6 of 12. It worked out nicely as opposed to getting 2 picks in a row(1-12, 12-1..wash, rinse, repeat). I think i have an overall better team than most since i was more able to get consistently good players as opposed to a couple really good one, and then a couple really bad ones.

Actually he's the second guy I know that's played in the NFL, John Blick was the first. He was a tackle for Tampa...until his career ending broken leg injury Sad

If we're gonna do a money league I'd be down, but I'd need the time and irc channel information.

i think it might be too late to get another league going. the season kicks off this thursday night. maybe next year we could plan a little early and get a full 10 or 12 team league going.

as far as draft order, i picked 9th in my first league and 3rd in my second. i don't mind being on the end of the draft though in snake order. in my 2nd league, which had 10 teams, the guy picking 10th got Ronnie Brown AND Cadillac Williams. that's pretty awesome. and most leagues favor running backs, so they go early, which means you can still get qualit QBs and WRs in the 3rd and 4th rounds, if thats what you want.

Well here is my fantasy team in a 10 man league. I think it's funny that my first three picks fell to me despite me moving the players multiple spots down from the ESPN ranking system.

QB Kurt Warner, Ari
RB Thomas Jones, Chi
RB Clinton Portis, Was
WR Anquan Boldin, Ari
WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh, Cin
TE Randy McMichael, Mia
D/ST Buccaneers D/ST, TB D/ST
K Adam Vinatieri, Ind

Bench Carnell Williams RB
Bench Tom Brady QB
Bench Daunte Culpepper QB
Bench Wali Lundy, Hou
Bench Donte' Stallworth, Phi
Bench Steelers D/ST, Pit D/ST
Bench Vernand Morency, Hou RB
Bench Joe Jurevicius, Cle WR P

I let the last rounds take care of themselves, so I was a bit surprised that I got both no name running backs for Houston. Huzzah! A bit weak at WR and TE, but set otherwise. I can run Warner until the inevitable injury/ replacement and plug in Brady and if Culpepper takes off all the better.

Pep loves to throw to the TE. McMichael is a pretty decent TE. You might be stronger in TE than you think. Very Happy

i have no idea why Cadillac Williams is on your bench! Portis Might not even play until week 2 or 3!

The Cadillac is a stud RB.

Last I heard, Portis is going to suit up against the Vikes on Monday...

[edit] I'm not disagreeing with you, BSF. I do think Williams is better than both current starting RB's. Thomas Jones may spit a lot of time with Cedric Benson.

just saw on sportscenter than Portis was downgraded to "questionable" for monday night. portis' shoulder is the talk of the town(that and how terrible Brunnell looks so far) around here. i live just outside D.C. heh.

Go Bengals!

Yeah, that sounds about right for the NFL. He gets upgraded to probable, then the next day, downgraded. Makes me nervous. I really like Portis, but I'd rather not see him against my Vikes the first week.

And it's about time the Bungles lose that nick name. Good luck to you!! Very Happy

if Palmer doesn't get hurt in the Pittsburgh game in the playoffs last year, it's the Bengals that are the reigning Super Bowl Champs. Hell, he threw a 60-yard touchdown ON the play he was hurt on. heh.
