And the RIAA is doing pretty well at showing that knowing that an IP isn't enough to always get a judgement in a civil case (though this is obviously not their goal), where the standards of proof are lower than the potential criminal cases arising from this.
Plus, it makes things like the Swedish Pirate Party's new Darknet more appealing (for a five dollar monthly fee, it gives you an anonymous Swedish IP. They don't keep records of what numbers go to what people, so it *should* be anonymous). |
